I couldn't have found this song at a more perfect time. My parents are always so calm with telling me how to improve and yet here I am, mocking myself and crying over the fact I can't do anything right. After crying over a rather improper presentation and beating myself for being 'stupid', this song is rather comforting. My dad told me I need to take a step back and breathe to let myself know it's okay to make mistakes. At first, I thought "It's already a part of me, how am I supposed to do that? It's so hard." and yet this song is making me think otherwise. The lyrics are so perfect, honestly I could cry again, but I have a project to do. Thank you, Rachie, for helping me know that it's alright to be imperfect; it's what makes me 'me' after all.

Very nice. My parents are a little different though. They get mad or disappointed when I don't pass something and I beat myself for it. But sometimes they comfort me well at least try but tell me it work harder. And sometimes they'll yell at me if I dont understand something.

I can relate almost too well! Due to school I have constant emotional breakdowns and have even resorted to cutting because I felt stupid and worthless. While my parents were supportive they also did things such as saying that I was dumb or stupid if they were angry or I couldn't do "simple" tasks that they asked of me. After hearing this song I am doing much better and no longer beat myself up over the little things, infact I even made all "A" honour roll (something that I have not done since third grade)

I've always felt this unspoken pressure by my mother to get the best grades, be good at sports (I'm not I just stand there pretendingto tie my shoelaces), to be good at everything really but I can never. ! I'VE NEVER CLICKED A NOTIFICATION SO FAST AAAAA [TW: suicide mention at the end] No, but seriously. This song means a lot to me. ;~; I first heard it back in 2011 when I was struggling with horrific depression and was failing semester after semester at a college I didn't want to attend with a major that didn't interest me. My parents have always been extremely hard on me - anything under a mid-B isn't just bad, it's FAILURE. My mom? She used to micromanage me EVERY SINGLE AFTERNOON after school, writing up lists for me and not letting me out of her sight until I finished my homework. And THEN she'd check over it to make sure I'd done it right. You know the term helicopter parent? That fit her perfectly (and still does to an extent). Standing up to my parents and dropping out was the hardest thing I've ever done, but this song convinced me it'd be worth it in the end. Now, I'm... not exactly successful OMG, but I've gotten medicine for my depression and help for my other issues, and most importantly, I don't want to die every single day. I'm still surprised how HAPPY I am most days, and if I'm not actively happy I'm at least usually content enough to function. My life has turned around in a way I couldn't have even imagined back then - I thought I'd be cursed to living with the mind-numbing slog of clinical depression the rest of my life, but I haven't been. I've moved far away from my parents and near some internet friends, and after years of depressed inaction, I'm finally about to start a career. And this is the song helped give me the kick I needed to go get real help. So REAL TALK, guys, you can turn your life around with the right help. Even if you literally can't imagine it now, take it from someone who's had really bad mental health issues and once thought the same thing. I can't guarantee what kind of luck you'll have in life, but just know it CAN get better. ;~; You just need to find something that motivates you enough to seek help. (And trust me, I get how hard that is firsthand!) Okay uh, sorry for the emotional TL;DR post, but... thanks for covering this song, Rachie. ;w; This cover is great and I know this is a song that means a lot to a lot of people.

I LOVE IT RACHIE! If I can point some things out though, I've noticed lately that the subtitles in your videos usually have a few mistakes in them, be it spelling or the words not matching with what's being sung at that moment. It's easy to miss things when you edit yourself so I'd recommend having someone else preview it and maybe they can catch little errors like that and it can get fixed before the upload :)

It is good to have expectations for your children to do their best in their academic pursuits because it opens more doors for them. It becomes an issue when that expectation becomes unrealistic and demanding. My mother often would tell me that she knew I was capable of achieving high marks in school. She would say that if I just gave it my best that she knew I could get A's and pass my classes with flying colors. When I did try though and put forth my efforts, I still got low marks but my mother's expectations of me never changed. She was convinced that I was capable of getting high marks but despite my efforts I soon became dispassionate about reaching those expectation. Time and time again I fell short after trying and time and time again my mom would say that if I just tried I would get A's. As I slowly lost passion I would try again here and there to meet my mom's expectations and sometimes it'd work but the very next time it was the same conversation, or the same argument. I soon fell really hard into a gaming addiction and I ended up almost flunking my junior year of highschool. I'm doing better now and am working but at the same time I don't have a drive to seek higher education because of the fear of not only instability financially but that I wouldn't meet the standards of another person in an academic sense. I use to pride myself as being the "smart kid" when in actuality I was a disillusioned trivia bot more inclined to competing on a cheap game show rather than pursue my once dream of being a marine biologist.
