Absolutely, and it's amazing how it really annoys other people here when you say that. Linux is a case of "effort in = reward out". If you're willing to put in time and effort, you get a great and free computing experience. Some people don't want to put in that time and effort, they get jealous.

No one will listen to you. My setup at my home is the bomb. People ask how I'm doing this and people always say Wow! my computer can't do that. I tell them what I'm using to be able to do all of this. I say Linux and people just freeze up with their jaw open and drool running down to their chin, with a complete blank on their face. I gave up a long time ago, to keep all this great stuff to myself. My living room is full of Linux stuff, including all my home theater and sound system setup. Linux is very helpful and important for me. It is peerless in being what it is. Whereas if your time is valuable, kindly be advised: When it comes to time, Linux is a chongus whirlpool if you indulge it and yourself. Acres upon acres of info pages, kernelorg, the Arch wiki, config files, forums, and of course DistroTube! to name but a few. Scale of time-suck problem is runaway chain-reactive if you are keen: (a) to compare/contrast side-by-side with one other O/S how their respective resources are shepherded and processes carried out, and/or (b) to multi-boot whether bare metal or otherwise, while possibly co-sharing sundry resources with a non-*nix moiety. Kindest regards, neighbours and friends. P.S. You get buffer through the journey. So flex on.

You have two options: (1) Stop using Arch, and get used to a different distro, such as either Debian or LMDE or Tiny Core or maybe even Parrot OS; (2) Continue using Arch, but understand that (most of) the few women who might want to have you are themselves also users of Arch. I DON'T use Arch, BTW. Arch would require that its user (anybody, myself included) should constantly update and upgrade. I cannot imagine living with that thing on my daily-driver laptop!

No, they don't. In my case, (Gentoo) Linux keeps me happy in my own hobbyist Linux bubble where I can have fun buying crappy and broken old computers, clean them and fix them, and then make them do stuff on the Internet again - sometimes they even go off to charities and out to people in the Third World who can make use of them. I get even more of a good feeling then also. I'm also happily married and have been with the same lovely lady for more than 30 years - me being happy with a day job in Linux and a hobby with Linux helps that, not to mention I'm also a great cook. Please don't label us all as zealots - I really could care less who else uses Linux, it has worked fine for me since 1996 whether it has 4% or 94% desktop penetration.

@@terrydaktyllus1320 yeah . . . they really do lol. "In my case" is fine for you, but it doesn't speak for everyone. These are the folks that will see vscode running on a screen shot and try to demoralize you for it, the people that will condemn you for using GOOGLE lol. The types of people that feel that reject automation as blasphemy and champion packages that have been obsolete for 20 years. @@terrydaktyllus1320 yeah it is, in your case, Gentoo is your denomination Let me ask you, and answer honestly. Why should I care that you use Gentoo? What is your motivation for telling me? Did I ask? Do you think you are somehow superior because you compile your packages? Do you assume I haven't? Gentoo was fine, a little long in the tooth for me but it is never really difficult to learn how to do what others have done before you, yet you felt the need to advertise your distro to me. You are exactly what I am talking about . . . and you aren't even aware of it.
