When you're just back from Italy as well, and after getting home at 2.30am, this is a perfect video to wake up to the following afternoon. Enjoying this with a coffee :)

My husband lived in Palmero, around the corner from where you stayed, for just over a year. In his eyes you've done Palerno justice. It's been so nice watching this video with him and him reliving his time there. Now go to Sharjah so I can relive where I lived for 10 years!

When I was in Palermo I popped into the theater to chance my arm. The main auditorium was sold out but they did have a special performance in a side room with a Cellist with interpretive dancer accompaniment. 5 euros! All in front of no more than about 50 people. That kind of unexpected gem is what travel is all about.

Hi Scott, interesting video of a place that’s on my list to visit. For me it would be a driving adventure and ferry in an old Italian sports car. I’m from Bridge of Weir and happen to be a member of the British Cactus & Succulent Society, Glasgow branch. I propagate large numbers of cacti & succulents from seed so I’m interested in how you get on with the Opuntia seeds. Looking forward to more of your videos, especially in Italy. You should visit Turin one of these days, lots to see there. All the best, Ewen in dreary Scotland 🤠😎

I - and a few friends who also love your videos - play a new game now! We count how long it takes for you to mention something about things being cheap or good-value or discounted! I think the record so far is about 7 minutes! We were going to have bets on when you used your trade-mark reference to 'Cruising Altitude' but that's nearly always within 3. I'm a Yorkshireman so I totally approve of thrift and discounts! I watch your videos with the lights off to save electricity! Another great video as ever of course. I hope you will get to Malta one day - my favourite island (apart from Skye!) Grazie molto!!

Every video of Sicily I have seen (particularly including Palermo and Catania) makes it look good. I went there and the reality was a lot different. I thought the place was a complete dump on the whole. Genuinely one of the worst trips I've ever had!

and is also a problem here in Australia. They were brought in to feed the cochineal beetles (which were used to manufacture a red dye used to colour the uniforms of the British Garrison Troops), as well as for use as ornamental garden plant. The cactus spread widely, causing millions of dollars of damage to crops and pastures. It was declared a noxious weed in 1893. By 1920 it covered 23,000,000 ha in Queensland alone. Eventually the Cactoblastis beetle was introduced from South America in 1925, released and successfully controlled the cactus by 1933. So successful was this early example of biological control that a memorial was erected to the Cactoblastis beetle in 1936 at the locality of Boonarga near Chinchilla in Western Queensland. The Cactoblastis Memorial Hall is the only memorial to an insect in the world. search Wikipedia for "Cactoblastis Memorial Hall" for more information. ..
