Literally any other game would have Quicksilver as a currency purchasable through microtransactions, but HG just put the humble NPC in their with the simple goal to give players more customization. They released updates shortly after launching a broken messy game and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future as of now. Calling them criminals is a bit of a heavy overstatement, and it seems 95% of everybody else disagrees with that critical take based on current reviews and feedback over the past few years since 2018. Hell, they redeemed themselves back in 2019 when Beyond launched.

It's been a WILD RIDE to get to this point, but I've been a fan since Day One, despite all the people who bashed the game because they didn't think it did what they expected it to do, instead of just realizing how amazing what was delivered. This game set new expectations for all open-world games that followed, and never ceases to amaze me every time I go play it... which I always want to do after seeing a new trailer. My last 2 1/2+ years have mostly been banging my head against the APEX Legends wall, but have interjected a few sessions of No Man's Sky in there too. This game will always be my go-to game if I have nothing else play, and just need a beautiful distraction. Thanks for what you guys have created, and CONTINUE to create. I’ll be honestly. I never really got into NMS at launch. It felt too tedious and maybe I just didn’t understand it. It wasn’t until lockdown that I gave it another chance and truly started to become more immersed into it. Im so glad I did. Since then, I’ve put at least 40+ in the game and beat the multiple endings. Now I just tend to my base, explore planets, and play missions with other players. It is such a fantastic and breathtaking game. It definitely is one of my favorite games of all time now. If you would’ve asked me a year ago, I would’ve dismissed the claim. Thank you for keeping this game alive with updates often. I know it’s been 5 years but it still feels new to me and I’m glad the community is still alive and just as eager for this next update!

From someone who preordered the game back in 2016 and was heavily dissapointed with the game initially: THANK YOU, for sticking with the game and this community. Now in retrospect there were a lot of factors that went into the game initial failed launch, but instead of running away with the money and saving yourselves the trouble of interacting with a community that was heavily weighed against you, you actually continued to develop the game. Nobody would have expected you to continue working on a title that had raised so much bad PR at launch, but you overcame the odds, and made the community swing on your side not by cheap tricks and dumb marketing, but by listening to what we had to say and focusing on the biggest issues first. Im absolutely amazed by how much this game has evolved throughout the years, far surpassing the original goal by offering free DLC, graphical upgrades and even VR. I think I speak for most people when I say that I dont take these things for granted, it shows that your love and passion for the game is genuine. Keep going with these amazing updates and know that all your work and passion is appreciated.

I want fully customizable ships using all the random pieces they're currently built of that are attainable through content and faction ratings. Paint jobs. Decals. Etc. They already basically have all this already with the planetary vehicles. The random pieces for ships already exist in the database. I dont think it would be over the top to achieve.

I don’t comment much, might even be my first, but this is important to me so… People are calling No Man’s Sky’s story a redemption arc. I put in 60 hours or so before that first major update. I think it started great and got even better. I own 13 different games consoles and have a collection of around 700 physical games. Oh man this actually made me emotional. Being there the whole time from before the game came out, this brought on so many memories. This 5 year journey has been a rollercoaster of emotions, from the clusterf*ck that were the few months following release (and the various identity crisis of the NMS reddit) to the masterpiece move that was Waking Titan (should've been mentioned in this trailer imo) and the progressively unified community around this game, and the engoodening of the game itself. Couple that with one of 65daysofstatic's best songs, a band that I saw live and got hooked on thanks to No Man's Sky and it made this one hell of a trip down memory lane. Thank you for this game, I've loved the journey, the rollercoaster and being part of this amazing community. Can't wait for the Frontiers!

This is why I always believe that when a developer is trying to save/improve their game that failed at launch, we should give them a chance. Who knows what the game you were let down by could turn into if you support the game getting these free updates. Happy Anniversary, HelloGames!

Yeah, but.. I don't think it should become a more common practice just because Hello Games turned around their game. Developers ought to take a lesson from this, yes, from the possibility that a game can be turned around, but even more so about launching their game in a proper, playable, and complete state. What Hello Games did with NMS until now is nothing short of remarkable, but... we should'nt have to suffer any more No Man's Sky launch type situations.

@@youhan9574 I'm not encouraging bad launches. But what I DO encourage is improving your game. I've seen a lot of game that had lots of potential, but came out rough, and never got fixed to give us the game we wanted.

Been here since pre-order (got the ship to prove it) and loved seeing how things have grown up to and past what we were originally promised. Having gone from being a little disappointed on release to holy crap this is awesome, and to now "but wait, there's more", this really should be held as an example of how to put things right.
