It's complete crap as-is. 1. You cannot scrap sentinel ships 2. You cannot customize a ship that exists 3. You CAN create a new ship from 2 - 4 other ships parts, but once you create it, you are stuck with it. You cannot even change the color. Hoe some people say this is equivalent of Starfield is nonsense - they've obviously never played it.

I don't think there's a single thing in the game that hasn't been even minorly improved upon before, the ship building honestly looks like an early prototype of on a better ship customization system to come in future updates. Statistically speaking, in such a game, it's much MUCH better to release an incomplete, but fully functional feature and then improve it later on, both from developer side and player side: 1. Player feedback matters, and a lot of people best realise issues or lack of things after enough experience with them, so their feedback becomes so much more valuable and releasing it in a smaller amount or worse quality allows for easier implementation of new things and removal of bad aspects. 2. Kind of already touched it in the first point, but it makes much more sense from a developer standpoint to release smaller updates over time, so that bugs and issues are so much easier to fix, than releasing a huge chaotic and complex system all at once and then take forever to fix it during runtime. In NMS's case, since it's a long-term project, adding a lot of smaller features at once holds so much better value than adding one gigantic feature every couple weeks. Just to clear up, I meant to reply to both OP and the other commenter here who said Starfield and this is incomparable, but yes, I think it's safe to assume this is not the final version of ship customization.

@@preds43 Yes, but having come back to NMS from 700+ hours on Startled, I find the ship customization in NMS broken. Being able to modify the ship you have just built, swap parts or color is fundamental IMHO.

When looking for ideal Supercharged slots on a newly built ship, each specific combination of parts will have a set layout for slots, however if you change space station and roll the same parts again it'll have a different layout!

I noticed that wings and hulls/cockpits have different stats for the ship you’re building. Example: different wings types will have different maneuverability stats. Play around with different combos to achieve the highest stats

Forgot to meantion the removal of the Atlas Pass backroom and the change of lootables from random tabletop and wall object to be now unsecured containers and selfs. Plants are 100% no longer a source of carbon.

I flew an asymmetrical explorer to trigger people. I kind of love how ugly they can get. I do like this update for the ship building, however, it would have been really nice to go deeper in this, and have even more customisation (the landing feet, embellishments to the side armour like extra winglets, fins, extra cannon slots even if just for show, antenna, being able to place logos and much more) and a deeper level of upgrades maybe (on top of what we already have). The new stations look amazing. In the stations they need to refine the hit boxes for the traders a little. The weapons trader stocks 2 multi-tools, and while they are identical in terms of design, their boost slots differ even between the same class which is pretty cool, so you might find a rather groovy multi-tool that fits your weapon type really well.

Missed opportunity not allowing us to make the parts with existing parts in game. They could have tied alot of activities together by allowing to use 3 to 5 parts to make wings. Igniter for thrusters for example. People would actually farm and make parts for a reason other than credits

For me (if it’s even possible) is to add procedurally generated city’s to planets. Each with unique architecture to the race that owns it and varying in size from small towns similar to settlements , to big cities, or even some where the entire planet is one big city like in Star Wars.

I hope they do eventually add custom shuttles. I was hoping shuttles would be sort of a universal as far as parts go, like say a rasa with the wide shuttle wings. Alternatively you could allow the shuttle to change its type by adding parts from another ship type (Ie a shuttle that's class is a fighter or hauler). Allowing shuttles to be Frankenstein ship would be a lot of fun.

i just grind for one item and then duplicate, its worked for a few years now so far, havent played orbital yet i did play the expedition. so that boosted me. just took like 5 minutes per material to dupe enough that i wont need to for a bit.

Overall this was a good update. I will be completely honest. I'm disappointed with ship customization as it is now. It's currently very limited and restrictive. You are limited to what is generated in game. For example, if you like tier 3 fighters you cannot create your dream ship. A lot of wings cannot spawn on a tier 3 fighter. I assume that Hello Games plans to expand this system in the future. I look forward to the future when we have more freedom and options.

Weird to call it custimization when all it is colloecting ships parts and using the same ship parts to build the same ship using tue swme parts which the game already does when it randomly generates the ships in the first place. All you do is make a ship that already exists in the game, it's like the character creation in rpgs and you hit random instead of changing cheeks and nose...extremely limited what you can "customize"

The atlas is the zero point from fortnite. Its all connected. This game is chronologically the last game to take place ever. Zero is dying because its been manipulated so much. Its why reality in this game is so fragile. The traveller is a member of the seven trying to find and restore zero.
