Nice Video. There are a few pointers to add. The Mount Demount bar always rotates clockwise to remove and install tires. Push the bar with your hip to install the tire. Left hand pushes tire down for clearance and right hand pulls the handle, and it will be way easier for you!

This is true if you are right handed, but if left handed it likely is easier to go CCW. The machine is symmetrical so it matters now which way you go.

Its a shame the companies that sell products aren't more realistic with thier presentations. You sir have a great attitude and thats what this world needs. NoMar has several videos that clearly show how to use their machine. Watch those and the learning curve isn’t bad at all. And doing it right makes the job fairly easy, particularly if you can work on a warm day and leave the tires in the sun for an hour to heat up. Cold tires on my BMW are a pain, but warm them in the sun and it is much easier. The gentleman in this video didn’t follow the NoMar recommendations in a number of areas, but he still got the job done. So, no harm, no foul.

Don’t worry about getting some of their lube on the tire bead. Doing so makes the mounting much easier and once that stuff dries, it nearly disappears and your tire will not spin on the rim. If you are really worried about it, once the tire is on the rim, take a damp rag and clean the vegetable lube off of the tire bead and rim before you seat the beads. However, I have changed more than 20 tires now with my NoMar and I lube the bead well and have had zero problems and I don’t bother to wipe off excess lube until I am done and the tire is aired up. When you dismount the tire, you will find that the lube you put on the drop center and one the tire has basically disappeared.

The clamps are a good idea, but watch the NoMar video on mounting a Gold Wing rear tire. They show using wood blocks to hold the bead in the drop center and this makes a huge difference. I never found Yellow Thing very helpful, but four 3/4” pine blocks spaced about 6” apart following the mount bar as you slowly work it around the rim make a huge difference. My blocks were cut from a 1x4 pine board and are about 2” wide so basically, using actual dimensions, they are 3/4” x 3-1/2” x 2” and work great.

Having changed many a car tire and motorcycle tire on the ground along with using the old school manual tire machines, I knew the videos were showing it being WAY to easy!!!! This video is more like what I was expecting to encounter. We will see! Much better than dealing with local shops for sure!

That No Mar tire lube is great but not cheap. IF your looking for the same lube, then buy the Murphys Tire and Mounting Compound. It’s the exact same stuff as the No Mar. I also have a No Mar tire changer, different model and it’s bolted to the floor. I like their bead breaker pretty well but I have and use a Bead Buster, it works awesome, and it works on car and truck tires.

I have been struggling and learning with my No-Mar. You are going the opposite direction when using the mount/dismount tool......I believe the handle works better to hold the tool in the wheel rim when you go clockwise. Also when mounting the wider rear tires that are stiff - using those bar clamps is a must....4 of them helps considerable, and you can adjust and relocate them as needed while you are pulling the bead on. Warm (hot) tires also helps a lot - it was only 50 degrees when I mounted my last tire and it was really stiff and not eager to flex as much as I needed. The last tire gave me a fit as it as a GT rated sport touring tire, and it was pushing so hard upward onto the rim the bead did not want to slide down into the drop center.....the bar clamps helped considerably!

Hey Tony,cool I will try to do paint my Pilots next time around.I'm still doing my tires on the floor with a set up I got called Max made in Germany $300 .It works pretty good,it uses the Duckbill to get the tire on and off.The bead braking is the hardest part of the job but I learnt that lots of windex and little pushes around the rim works best.I have GTL and a RS and a Boxer Cup Replica .Ride safe Brother!!

Well we're about the same age, been riding about the same number of years also and appears we've had the same problems with our tire changers but------- I do love mine and will never be back down on the ground again. Following the instructions did help a bunch "after I read them that is." LOL Just wish I could change an eight inch tire on my changer as my trailer I pull behind the Goldwing has 8 inch rims.

I believe that your biggest problem is you are using the demounting/mounting bar backwards(reversed?). The grab handle should be facing away from the center bar allowing you to grab it and help pull around when mounting. Also, put a strap through the wheel and around one of the 3 base bars to keep your wheel from spinning. NoMar says you don't need it, but I think it helps greatly. Lastly, mounting to your van is great for space savings but your rear shocks were bouncing as you applied pressure, thus losing some of your force. Put a jack under the rear (hitch) to stop it's bouncing. Just some ideas to try! Great video!!
@tonycarthan6425
@tonycarthan6425 3 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. The jack idea is great and I will try it next time. As much as I watched the video during editing I never noticed the bouncing till you pointed it out. I will take the handle orentation and other suggestions on board. It gets easier everytime I use it. 🙂

Yeah, I bought a nice used one with ALL the add on for a good price. Set it up and started out with a sport tire that had been on for 10 years sitting stored. Breaking down was a snap. Setting up the rim on the changer was an exercise to remember... wood blocks, etc... getting the tire to go into and stay in the drop center ... impossible. Maybe if I had two helpers, four bigass c clamps, ... The videos showing tires going on and coming off like butter? Controlled environment with plenty of retakes for sure. Retired with a good income, I am buying a used K&L today off Facebook. I'll use it for a few tires and sell it for what I paid for it. I'll try some new tires on the No Mar, and if that doesn't impress me I'll sell it too. 3 HD's, 2 Suzukis, 3 BMW's can cost a fortune just in tire labor!

Mine is a similar older model, Jr. Pro, and also with trailer hitch. I learned the techniques on a modified Harbor Freight. The way your NoMar tire bar is fitted with that handle whould have you standing with your left hip against the bar and right hand following on that handle. I much prefer the MoJo Lever bar, but my Gold Wing tires are really tough. Get you mount bar set to push clockwise with your hip, set you ugly yellow thing to the right of the bar and slide counter clockwise as far as it will go which will mount about half of the tire before using the bar. Fashion some 3/4" thick by 1 1/2" wide wood blocks, about 3 of them, to push the area between yellow thing and bar down into the drop. Then hip push and hand steady the bar clockwise. If you prefer to push with left hip and hold handle with left hand, just modify the handle to fit the other way. It gets easier every time.

I have a K1200LT and its 79V load range reinforced rear tire is about as stiff as tires come. It still mounts fairly easily if you do just two simple things: 1. Follow the instructions and their videos to the letter. In particular, the Gold Wing video where they show using the wood blocks to hold the bead in the drop center makes a HUGE difference. 2. Warm the tire in the sun for an hour to so. Even better, change your tires on a 90 degree day. It is amazing how much difference this makes. My rear tire is at least 3 easier to mount if done on a hot day with the tire heated in the sun for an hour or so.

Soooo much fun but it just EATS tires!) There is something gratifying about the challenge ya know? It sort of like beating another rider except I am beating a crafty ubber hoop instead... I mean it feels good honestly in a very strange way so maybe it is worth the money? I mean its not misearable....no registration or insurance either or fuel oil and maintence to speak of! Fairly safe too I recon idk what do you think there Tony....kinda of Zennish?

All in all I will be buying a real tire machine. I had most trouble with motorcycle tires goldwing, and vstar 1300 were real hard. Had to use irons to get top bead on..... very frustrating using the mounting bar, the clamps don't bite and the rim slips. I bought the whole kit with balancer was around $1000 -1100.
