Nice short intro to Drawdown. We need a stronger discussion around this idea that every job is a climate job. For example, if you work in the oil industry- you could use the same drilling equipment for geothermal wells. If you work in battery production- you could be the person who came up with a battery made of paper! How can your products, whatever they are, fit into the circular economy? It is one thing for your architectural firm to recycle- it is another to design buildings without construction waste ... Every sector needs to start asking these questions. Even if you are not in a position of power, you never know what will happen once you start the conversation!

She's great! But I rather switched off when she started explaining "For our current economic model to survive..." - since it's pretty obvious that our current economic model based on exponential growth on a finite planet should not survive.

@annie - i didn't take it that way - while i agree our current economic model shifted in the 50's to maximise profit - i don't see the private sector / large enterprise accepting financial losses to fight climate change. and even if they did, their efforts wouldn't be sustainable as they'd exhaust capital. i believe what Jamie is suggesting is that we need to include "impact" as a success measurement in addition to profit, and engage employees to find sustainable ways to evolve their business while still being profitable.

@@morearete any exponential growth will come to an end, sooner or later. For business growth, sooner. Still, any positive move towards Drawdown is a good thing.
