It's so weird to see the Monsta X member act so awkward and compete against each other. I came here after becoming a fan of them and seeing them like this is just so awkward for myself. Like kihyun and shownu are so close now and here it's like when a wife and a husband get into an argument

when they said they'd be performing "Bang bang", I knew Shownu was in trouble. Shownu is very talented but there's just some songs that just isn't for you and in this case, it really wasn't the best choice of song for Shownu and he knew it himself but I'm proud of him for believing in himself and pushing himself to make it work regardless even if the results didn't turn out so well. It also seemed like the other guy knew that he would be at an advantage with that song so he seemed a lil selfish to me but then again it is a competition so I don't blame him for wanting to win. I think so far I like Shownu the most cause of his pureness and of course he's also super talented plus he's hot.

that other guy is Kihyun xD Monsta x's Main vocal, and yes, that's exactly what he did. it's the same with Shownu, he knew Kihyun can't dance but he wanted to pick a song with a choreography, they weren't close so both of them pick something to have advantege against the other, also, they didn't practice a lot, for me, the best choice for them could be a ballad, even when Shownu is the main dancer, he's also one of the top vocals, so they could focus in something both of them are good,

Yeah, I definitely think that Shownu just wanted to be kind by going with that song. Maybe it was because they were still awkward with each other so he didn't want to disagree and argue, but I digress. I don't blame Kihyun for choosing it though, like the show's title, you have to be merciless to succeed in this and, unfortunately, sometimes nice guys finish last. (I'm just happy I'm watching this 4 years later so I know they both made it anyway. ^^)

Calling kihyun out for being "selfish" or "manipulating" about the song choice is also being biased towards shownu, regardless if it put him at an advantage, y'all forgetting that kihyun initially suggested they do a more vocally- oriented song since they can both sing even if he's the better vocalist, they could have picked something within their range so both could have been relaxed enough to perform well...shownu was the one who wanted a more movement-oriented song, hence kihyun met him halfway and suggested a "flashy" song so they could both showcase what they are best at respectively, but aside from the rapport clearly lacking, the choreography was water-downed so kihyun could keep up even though shownu could barely match the other's tone, so the compromise on both fronts is what really made it flop and lackluster..it's on shownu to suggest a different "flashy" song instead of being passive and just agreeing, they could have explored more...otherwise a ballad would have been the safer and wiser choice.

Han Seo Hee should see this and realise, this is how talent is polished and recognized. Not by snitching or being envious of others. Why don't people understand that even if Wonho was a drug user or had done stuff in the past, he himself admitted that after becoming a trainee he changed himself for the better. Why can people accept and love Robert Downy Jr. as Iron Man despite his checkered past, but not think to do the same with Wonho. He may or may not have done things, but it WAS in the past. Past people. Something that has happened a long long time ago. And that other person, she thinks she is a more talented person than him.... If that was the case then she wouldn't have to say it, her work would have defended her. Passion and emotion do NOT equal talent and skill. Passion and emotion drive you to have skill and talent sure but it is not the final factor. Sure Kihyun has a gorgeous voice and #Gun's rap was heart breakingly beautiful but in terms if skill, stage presence and style Jooheon was better. Shownu was able to show off both his dance AND incredible voice, you can't push that to 3 or 4.

@@jinslonelypotato it’s really not that serious tho. He didn’t really listen to criticism on him straining his voice. His voice...it was 🥴. To say he was better that Wonho and Minhyuk...voice wise? They might have been both cringy but their singing was good and at least they tried to spice up their performances with some charm. His was kind of bland. And he wasn’t stable at all and they criticized him for not being stable so idk what u mean. The guy literally said he did not have to do a whole lot of extra stuff with his voice and could’ve kept it smooth instead of going high. But it doesn’t matter. He ends up being in a another idol group in the present so it doesn’t matter now. As long as he learned and continued in the present time. But in the show...just not really it. You don’t have to be so pressed...

I'm one of the senior students in my theatre troupe, and my focus is musical theatre and the psychology of performance presentation. I think that a lot of the problem with Shownu and Kihyun was just awkward tension that could have easily been resolved through systems we use all the time if people who dislike or don't really know each other have to be onstage together. A personal favorite of mine is putting people on fake 'dates' where they have to go to a coffee shop, or bowling, or sightseeing together in character. It's cheap, fast, and works well. I really think a sort of team-building 'date' would have made all the difference in their performance. That, and smiling! They both looked a bit depressed tbh. Anyway, love you Monsta X!
