I just went back about 60 years. Memories of Christmas. My Mama and grandparents and I. Stocking hang behind a old coal stove. Fruit and old fashion candy Christmas morning. Kerosene lamps on the table. No electric or running water. It was a different life. So peaceful and things weren't taken for granted. Thank you Tessie. Love this video.

Tessie, your home is absolute bliss. I, too, love and use oil lamps. They bring a peace that is so comforting. I love reading by mine. I am in bed early every night ( 8pm) but I’m up very early (4am.) Some of my oil lamps are very old too. Ahhh.. peace. It can’t be bought at any price. I love the quiet. I live my life now so differently than when I was very young. Oh I would not trade my life now for anything.

I absolutely LOVE oil lamps. I use them instead of regular lights 95% of the time. We don’t celebrate Christmas anymore after we learned where the traditions came from, but I have been having lots of fun this year decorating for the Biblical feasts. I got some of the battery powered lights and some banners and winter/fall type decorations. We truly enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and work hard to maintain it. ♥️

My ‘new’ favorites are the old red Dietz lamps as they’re so rustic looking and love the barn red color. You may like fairy lights. The gift I got this year was from you and the spirit you share. In another of your wonderful holiday videos you showed how to decorate your deck for no money with trimming from your trees and shrubs. In an hour and a half I went gleefully out to my yard and trimmed away. I filled my large empty plant pots and baskets with all sorts of greenery. I had an old garden shovel on the deck and with a silver Sharpie wrote “let it snow” on the metal part and drew snowflakes on it. The only money I spent was on a thrifted sleeve of flat ornaments that were never used. I tied them with jute twine and hung them from some fallen maple tree branches I used to give the arrangements a bit more texture. So for an hour and a half and $1 I have a beautiful deck. At the end of the season I can compost the greenery and store the ornaments for next year!! You are such a blessing!! Thank you and have a wonderful Christmas. 🌲

I like the glows of candles in windows.Nowdays, battery candles! Painting pine cones green,and glueing on base.Decorate as trees. If you glue on tissue paper, you roll in tiny balls,it looks like ornaments,use beads as lights!Remember paper chains? Not just for kids! You can hang Christmas cards from them!🎄🎄

Tessie, Tessie, Tessie please do a video on what your life would look like if your children were still at home. I still have 4 kids at home. Or what would you have done differently if you could go back? I know you lived very different when you had kids home. I also love mornings. I get up always by 4. In the summer I love being outside in the early morning in the winter it is so dark. I like the change. I try to make my home a peaceful, quiet place as much as I can. It is very important to me to ALWAYS be home when my kids walk through the door. I always have a homemade snacks, mostly cookies but I change it up at Christmastime. I really want my kids to remember coming home to a happy house filled with good smells and a smiling mom. I hope they look back fondly someday. Your place looks great. We go out early and gather cedar, hemlock and all other kinds of branches we can find. Once it gets close to Christmas we normally have too much snow to access those places so it must be done early. There is nothing better than walking thru the woods along, gathering. Love oil lamps as well. Your home is so charming and welcoming. I made a large star from thin branches from an ash tree, put on a rummage sale strand of dollar lights. Now I realized it'd fit into 'old fashioned' decorations. I videoed it, and hope to make other things as the years go by.

I have a 3 ft tree with 1 strand of lights.it has a nativity beside it..I keep a fruit bowl out with fresh fruit and nuts...I burn 1 or 2 cookies candles to make my house smell wonderful..I am not done with my shopping yet.3 adults and 1 little dog to buy for... next year we will have a new grand child to buy for.. we have Chinese food for Christmas dinner. ...we have cut back what we spend znd my tree was 7 ft tall is now much smaller ..my snow men stay out till spring...it is a much simpler Christmas for us and we actually enjoy it. Lovely video my Friend. I live the holidays. Bruce and I don’t buy each other gifts we do things together. I love baking and decorating. My mom used to take her baked gifts to people when I was growing up. I do get gift cards for my son and dad and sister and give Bruce’s daughters money. You have a lovely singing voice.

Love how the oil lamps light the room. It's so peaceful! I decorated 2 of those trees this year. I did buffalo print ribbon and silver balls on one and red berries garland (like the ones you picked up at the DT), mini pine cones, and red glitter balls on the other. I sprayed both with fake snow.
