I don't think any piece of media has ever had a stronger opening than this game. Skelter Helter's speech about vengeance punctuated by pulling his own head off is completely absurd and over the top but it's delivered with a cold sincerity and ends ups being genuinely disturbing and badass. Everything that Travis goes through in this game is exactly what he says.

It's implied that the "Downward Dog" scene near the end is what consummated Jeane (Travis and Sylvia's daughter). She also is talked about in Travis Strikes Again, when Travis talks about leaving Santa Destroy, Sylvia and his daughter behind.

Now that I think about it, this is basically Sylvia's story and her obsession with Travis considering what Sylvia did in the game, rigging the Death Game into something for her and others' amusement while Travis (despite being a top player name in the whole game) becomes more of that hit player everyone knows for star power and doesn't get a say in the matter as Shinobu and Henry basically wiped the floor of assassins for him. There's Nathan Copeland who seems to have a good backstory but then there's Charlie till Million Gunman as they're nothing more than just players who want to be in the game of death since it's FUN or an amazing lifestyle fad of the century since Travis' big game. After Destroyman, we get to see the last bosses having a say in the matter and Travis basically says 'That's enough!' Kinda reminds me of Akane from Gridman where she's basically playing god but things tremble around her. Sylvia is like Akane though the difference is that she has a lot of power influencing the matches minus the Jasper Batt Jr. thing and gives Travis so much leeway. Oh and she's a complete sociopath too unlike Akane who was much of a tiny pawn in Alexis Kherib's game. At the end of this game, considering how much ppl she conned since the first game according to her mother and everyone else she's given such a bad air towards such as Henry and Shinobu, the first guy she divorced him on the spot after helping the guy out since college-hood, how many ppl wouldn't wanna defend what she did (ask Shinobu), the peepshow was basically her prison and god only knows how much creeps she had to witness and endure which contrasts to her...lavish lifestyle she once used to uphold. No More Heroes 2 may be less than what fans had in NMH 1 but I feel looking through it again and seeing who has the say in the matter in this game, really makes sense since this is Sylvia's story and I like it. It's like Back to the Future 2 where it's about Biff's rise to power and how much he can do.

I'm starting to think that all the assassin in NMH 1&2 are people that Sylvia screwed over in her past. I mean the running theme of No More Heroes is kill the past. Maybe Travis in a way is doing Syvlia's dirty way by kill her past. But by doing so Sylvia became a part of Travis past. And unless he does something about it (Which he didn't), that past (the ranking fights) are going to keep coming back to haunt Travis over and over again.
