I think it'd be pretty cool if the continuation of the story focused on the planes themselves. Like, don't tell me that their inhabitants aren't a little bit paranoid after they realize what threats can roam in the multiverse. Maybe the stories would be about how each plane deals with that. Some could try and invade other planes, some could become closed-up dictatorships because of the fear of what can come next and so on. That would also mean that even smaller villians stuck on their world could be potentially a threat to the multiverse and we would explore the planes and fight local bad guys but at the same time it could allways have an impact on the larger story...

A potential story arc that may eventually come about is a war against planeswalkers. Planeswalkers are rarely held accountable to the laws of any plane, even to the various gods or higher-power beings. I can't imagine the average plane has been thrilled over how much influence planeswalkers have wielded over the centuries. It might be interesting to see planeswalkers across the Multiverse "on the run," from some sort of interplanar coalition.

In my opinion (and I'm making this comment before actually watching the video ) i think a new powerful villain will rise or an old one that we haven't seen or heard from in a long time will return. There has to be a villain but not just any ordinary villain but a powerful one to challenge the gatewatch and so on. There has to be a major threat because if you actually think about it, every movie, TV show, and video game has major villain who threatens the world or the universe. Of course their are the smaller more common villains who causes trouble but there are always a much bigger villain who plays a much bigger role in the story.

Stories of planes would require going back to three set blocks for a ongoing story to matter, not the speedrun that has happened for a while now. Planewalkers became a scapegoat to keep moving the story at lightning speed. If they keep the current pace on planes as it is, it wont matter if Planeswalkers or the Gatewatch take a backseat, single sets aren't enough time to have story matter outside of them, and honestly outside of Legendarys out of older set that we already know, most wont gain a place in out hearts like with Thalia, or the zombie/stiched twins of Innistrad.

I feel like calling Nahiri and Sorin's situation "a miscommunication" is a gross misnomer. Sorin broke his promise and was an absolute douchebag to her leading to the two of them coming to blows. This lead to him imprisoning her and, fine ok she was a threat, but he decided to never let her out and acted as a mild observer towards Zendikar. He is definitely the bad guy here, meanwhile I doubt she has all of her marbles considering how long she was imprisoned with demons obsessing over Zendikar.
@erebusvonmori8050 Жыл бұрын
Not entirely accurate. Sorin didn't break his promise intentionally, he screwed up and was too proud to apologise, Nahiri then attacked him and nearly killed Avacyn, which got her put into the Helvault. And we have no idea how he felt about keeping her there because it wasn't as simple as 'let her out' because there was no way out that didn't involve destroying it. And Sorin did more to protect Zendikar in the end than Nahiri did who just declared the situation lost and immediately escalated to genocide.
@callumreilly9107 Жыл бұрын
@@erebusvonmori8050 I disagree significantly with the sentiment that Sorin did more to help Zendikar than Nahiri. In fact, he immediately dipped after Nissa accidentally freed the eldrazi when she tried to banish them. Additionally, Nahiri’s work on Innistrad is what caused Emrakul to leave Zendikar during the crisis. If she hadn’t done so, Emrakul would’ve continued and destroyed the plane as she was immune to the Gatewatch’s plan of “burn the fucker”. Nahiri going “you reneged on our deal and have sacrificed my world to the eldrazi. I’ll let you keep your logic, but you will be the victim instead” is a pretty fair conclusion to come to (especially with what she’s been through). Sorin being too proud to admit his wrongdoing and turning up his nose at Nahiri when her world is on the line, refusing to even take a daytrip to check her work like he was obligated to, is definitely fighting words. The fight between the two of them was very visibly Nahiri going “take me fucking seriously, I don’t want to fight you but you promised and I will not be dicked around”.

I've wondered about whether Vraska was the only one who had that piece of herself reacting with horror to the events she participated in. Tamiyo managed to stop herself long enough to be struck down by the Empress and there was that part where Elesh Norn perceived individuality within Ajani. Vraska was the only one though where we get a POV from a compleated planeswalker in the story, so its hard to tell how much that had to do with Jace or compleated individuals in general.
@jacobjackson5535 Жыл бұрын
My personal thought about Nahiri is that her revival must have something to do with the concentrated angelic blast she took from Linvala. Perhaps add that to some of the wild mana abundant to Zendikar? As for the planeswalkers... I wonder if the nature of the blind eternities has changed with realmbreaker effectively filling it and burning. I wonder if there is still some essence or spirit of realmbreaker between planes, and could potentially still open portals, if it had a pilot. I wonder if planeswalkers will lose the ability to planeswalk as they had before because the nature of the blind eternities is changed, but once Wrenn regrows she finds the essence of realmbreaker and becomes the 'Heimdall' to open portals to other planes, and planeswalkers going forward are merely individuals who can connect to Wrenn and ask for a pathway. Of course if this theory is true, the eldrazi have some issues with their void of a home being upset...

I have a theory here. The "fake sylex" that jace had emitted a green aura.... that was highly reminiscent of the mirari orb from the odyssey block. In that story, kamahls own tribe turns on him when he goes mad. We see similar in the story here with the phyrexians essentially going after elesh norn in the end. So what if the "fake sylex" contained the mirari when jace met elesh norn at the invasion tree. If that were true, it would allow the next chapter to continue the story of the mirari. Remember, Jace also had the "sylex" when meeting Vraska in... if the mirari is indeed in the fake sylex, that means Jace would have been able to heal Vraska. But, of course, this begs the question of how would the mirari affect a telepath such as Jace? Bear in mind, our upcoming set is an Ixalan story, where Jace and Vraska fell in love. Bear in mind, the merfolk were the people hellbent on the mirari. Merfolk are on Ixalan as well. So the aftermath, imo centers entirely on the reveal that the "sylex" is actually the mirari. Keep in mind Glissa was the last one with the mirari, but also has no story element yet.

Part of me thinks it will be that the planeswalkers who lose their sparks were in the process of being converted and/or giving up their sparks to close the rifts in the sky alot like the mending. Another thought is that the new phyrexian threat will be theros as the way they changed the gods is very different to everything else they did. Plus Elesh knew something special was on theros that she wanted to exploit.

If non-planeswalkers be able to "planeswalk" now, I'd love to see an expanded Mercadia with trade across the Multiverse and vampires of Innistrad, Ixalan, Dominaria, and Ulgrotha becoming linked somehow. Alara, helping Theros recover. Kamigawa with New Capenna. Fiora with both Kaldheim, and to some extent, Ravnica. Gisa and Geralf vacationing on a beach in Ixalan while raising undead dinosaurs. Ral and Tomik, a honeymoon in either Bant, or Dominaria.

what i am looking for in future story arcs is mostly a time skip above all things else Emrakul said herself that Innistrad isn't ready for her to invade Ugin alluded to consequences to the Eldrazi titan's deaths, consequences that we won't see for possibly millenia Bolas may be relatively powerless but he's still an elder dragon who can live for several thousands of years I think above all things else that we should just let things rebuild and relax. the phyrexian invasion has massive effects on the multiverse and i feel like almost every plane we visit is going to have to have a "this is how they responded to the invasion" annotation afterwards. also majority of the storylines are done, zendikar is healed, Innistrad is mostly fine now without Avacyn (or as fine as it will ever get). Garruk is healed, Nissa and chandra are together, Jace is no longer the guildpact, Sarkhan is free. there are so few loose threads now compared to like 2014/2015 that i honestly do not care anymore about what happens to tezzeret, or ob nixilus, or Oko, or anyone at this point. lets finally give these characters and planes some rest and see them again sometime later

While the multiverse is safe for now there's a few things I'd like to point out. Yes all of the Praetor's are dead and New Phyrexia is removed from space and time. Which to me, seems about right. We need a good rest from inter-planar warfare. However, we still know Tezzeret is out there. He was one of the major culprits in succeeding compleation of planeswalkers. We know he's a master artificer. Since he helped Jin-Gitaxias create the reality chip don't you think he could make another one? Or something similar to it? While he did finally become free, he's still evil. Secondly, the currently compleated planeswalkers in general. I do not think they should have given so many the opportunity to come back to life in the multiverse. I feel they should of been killed off or forever imprisoned and de-sparked like they did to Nicol Bolas. Those planeswalkers had committed multiple atrocities across countless planes. They knew what they were doing despite being under Elesh Norn's command. At least one of them being Lukka got the punishment fit for him. Sorry but he wasn't very smart in the beginning of this lol. I'm okay with seeing de-sparked planeswalkers but I wish they would of killed off a few more. Certain characters like Jace, Nissa, and Ajani have been in Magic's story for a very long time and it's time we see some new planeswalkers step up. For example, Teyo and Davriel. We haven't had a single card of them since War of the Spark. That was 4 YEARS AGO. (Sorry Garruk lol) we finally heard they are in the story but have no card? Not even a card referencing what they're doing? At least with Phyrexia: All Will Be One the card "Compleat Devotion" at least shows that Ajani is present in this set and he is playing a role. We get a quick little blurb of text saying Teyo and Davriel are just helping Ravnica.. like what? Just helping? Tell us more about them. Let's look at Mu Yangling and Jiang Yangguu. We haven't seen Mu since core set 2019 or 2020? We haven't seen Jiang since War of the Spark. Where were they in all of this mess? I think it's time to keep some of the older walkers tucked away for a while. Have them be like your mentor or wise advisors you go to and they come to help when the time calls. Just some thoughts I wanted to share!

anyone else wanna see the phyrexians go up against some of dnd's aberrations that are tied to the far realm? i feel would be a fun side story/war concept with both being on from what i can tell the edges of their respective multiverses. especially with them having had dnd cross overs, on both ends making their interactions semi canon, i'd love to see vecna just wreck a mtg plane cuz he uses magic unlike anything in the mgt universe's norms.

Im still curious how Serra was talking to Elspeth after all this time. Just feels like the whole story is warped. Maybe we will start getting 'Alternate Timelines' - Would love to see some what ifs - What is Yawgmoth won for example. What if Nicol Bolas won.

aftermath has a lot of questions to answer, many major players and factions on certain planes have been majorly affected by the phyrexians, thinking primarily helios and the other completed gods, and the golgari who varaska enslaved. are the gods just dead now? how exstensive is was the golgari completion? are there still enough golgari to stay a guild, if not what does that mean for ravnica?

Who knows, maybe Realmbreaker weakened the walls between planes, or left "cracks" in the multiverse, through which other can now pass, even without a Planeswalker spark? For good or ill...

Didn't it exist one sleeper agent than helped Urza and was part of the Karn Origin than reveled against Yawgmoth? That would be the first good Phirexian... but they would be the first compleated... I don't think than we will see Quintorius on Aftermath, but on Wylds of Eldraine, because he was thinking on his friends from there, the twins.

On the Jace note, there are potential parallels in both Star Wars and Stargate. In Star Wars Legends [IE good Star Wars], Luke feigns falling to the dark side in order to get close enough to a resurrected/cloned Darth Sidious so he could finish off the Emperor for good [this is the storyline JJ Abrams was read from the Wiki while smoking all the meth when he came up with the Snoke/Rey Palpatine stuff] In Stargate, Daniel Jackson [after choosing to give up being an Ancient to help the galaxy directly, basically giving up his spark] volunteers to become a Prior to the Ori [basically becoming compleated] so he could gather intel and steal one of their ships. Jace could be doing something like this.

Planes Wars? Innistrad as the next big bad flooding the multiverse with vampires, werewolfs, and devils? The crime families of New Capenna expanding their Halo cartel into new worlds by harvesting their angels? Humans seek to escape from Ahmonket as zombies overrun countless worlds? Azor returns to Ravnica. Does he regain his memories and seek to restore order by challenging Niv-Mizzet for the power of the Guildpact? Battle of the Titans with Zacama vs. Zilortha vs. Progenitus? What if the Elder Dragons of Tarkir each found a new house in allied color pairs at the Strixhaven school, so all 10 color pairs are represented to accommodate students from across the Multiverse? What about having Kalidesh inventors teach at the Tolerian Academy? Uncle Sengar uniting vampire factions from across the multiverse? Except Sorin, who schemes to undermine his authority. Kaldhiem vs. Theros in a battle of the gods with Hezoret acting as the wildcard? Dimir spies engage in shadow warfare with the ninjas of Kamigawa? Can the Wanderer stabilize or sacrifice her planeswalking spark to finally find peace in her lost home?

Uh, Vraksa was cleared of her crimes and all she had to do was kill Dovin. Only ones who know she didn't do this are the Dimir, and they're not gonna care to do anything with that info unless they want her to do something for them. You're thinking of Liliana, but even then she was heavily involved in the story of MOM and no one even mentioned her still being alive and her betrayal in the war of the spark, so I think she's pretty safe.

what if all planes become one massive plane, where all major locations become different continents and thus removing the need for planeswalkers?
@monkaeyes Жыл бұрын
I'd love for planeswalkers to go, but I still want some sort of connection or clashes between planes to exist. Like if Realmbreaker left holes around the place or something. I think planes like Azgol for example look very Black and Red. It seems very unlikely that theres much of a White or Green presence on that plane. So then the only way they can reveal more about the plane, is if its in a set not centred around one plane. And the only chance of that is if there are interactions between planes.

Something i want to mention involving jace. A while back the marvel multiverse has a similar threat to phyrexia the poisons basically skeletal imps that fed on symbiote users and their symbiotes turning them into a poison variant of themselves and making them serve the hive, one victim jean Grey A TELEPATH Broke through the corruption and cured herself and killed the queen severing the hives connection. If a teenage telepath can do that then odds are jace could do the same minus briefly becoming living psyonic energy.... i think idk if elspeth can turn into an angel by exploding who knows

I really hope we will get a return of Phyrexia in some years, but it's actually a Urabrask-led one, which isn't a villain but more like a chaotic neutral weird multiplanar cult of chaos - for those who decide to join on their own. No forced compleation under Urabrask's watch! I think this is what is being set up, with him being the only Praetor who doesn't get killed off completely, just ... mostly.
