Can we take a second to appreciate how beast Jace is? His stomach split open because of phyresis, had cables terraforming his body, and still tried to be the know-it-all hero to the end before being BETRAYED by the non-compleated 'walkers. Gideon would've been proud of his friend.

Jace has had a lot of bad ideas and poor planning (bringing Lukka) but him activating the Sylex was not one of them. It's kinda funny in an ironic way as his mind was unraveling and being corrupted he was probably thinking more clearly than he had in a long time.

I think not enough people consider the fact that Jace essentially had an allergic reaction to Halo before Vraska ever stabbed him when he started acting irrationally. I felt like that was supposed to be a pretty on the nose tell that he was either a sleeper agent or in some way already compromised. They also made the point to say that the thing he bled into the Sylex before detonating it was glistening oil. We really have no idea if the Sylex was even going to work, or how the oil might change the outcome of the blast. We especially don’t know if Jace’s logic was reliable or if it would work the way he thought it would. Idk what conclusions to really make from this but I think it’s important to mention because a lot of people who read the story just seem to kinda take Jace at face value

I think it's less that and more people are frustrated at how sudden and kinda lackluster the explanation was that they couldn't use the sylex. I personally find the stories to really be half baked and that there is foundations for some really important conversations and things to be thought about, but it was executed not so great. Rushed almost or just suffering from word count limitations. Also, while Jace was going full uh-oh depressios, there is some truth to his logic that if phyrexia already had enough grasp that destroying the tree could destroy multiple worlds, that it was basically over for them. Of course there will be resistances and ways to fight back, but the hopelessness and need to end things before more suffering happens isn't a concept people are foreign with.

@@mystique3645 I get that, like I said I don’t have any specific theories or conclusions from what I said, and that’s mostly because like you said, the story is too underwritten to really come to too many conclusions. I just think it’s interesting that the general response to Jace’s role was basically that he had it all right and everyone else was being dumb/crazy. The whole point of phyrexia so far has been unreliable narrators, and I think Jace gave the readers and the party more than enough reasons to mistrust his logic and motives

@Nicolas Bolas there was a side story of how Ashiok was able to play with Elesh Norn's fears by making living organs sprout from a Mirran's blood she could not complaet. Emrakul would create horrors that would scare Elesh Norn based off what Ashiok was able to learn.

Phyrexia vs Eldrazi And I have an inkling that Bolas and Ugin will merge into one (they are twins after all) and will either link up or fight Emrakul before having a grand showdown against the Phyrexian Horde. Phyrexian horde fighting the Eldrazi swarm would make the other wars chump change in comparison.

So Zhalfir was in a hyperbolic time chamber that was phased out of existence. Teferi was able to send his spark back in time to when Urza fired the Sylex. The explosion exiled Teferi into phased-out Zhalfir. Now that he's there, Zhalfir's forces are able to mount a offense against the invasion. Looking at the box art for March of the Machine, you can see *every* plane fighting against the Phyrexians.

Nicol Bolas is probably already free. If I remember correctly, Ugin merged with the Meditation Plane to prevent anyone from Planeswalking into it. Realmbreaker has probablt broken into the Meditation Plane but Bolas is still desparked and powerless. Maybe all that time stuck inside changed him?

I doubt it. First off, realm breaker didn’t connect to every plane in the multiverse, and second. Bolas has only spent a few years in there tops. Which is a tiny fraction of his total lifespan. Even if he could change, being in timeout for less than a decade isn’t gonna do it

Pretty good but you forgot to include Tezzy fleeing back home when Norn was about to Compleat him, stealing a suit of Darksteel and going to beg the Angels of his plane for assistance. XD Prompting me to say "You know we're in trouble if Tezeret get religion" =P I am not sure how we'll see a reversal but if we look at the sets we have for the first time since Core hints that a multiversal battle will take place in March of the Machine but it's the only one. After that Eldraine and Ixalan. So two possibilities come to mind: Teferi will do what everyone predicted trapping the Phyrexians in a Timeloop/End gaming in so many allies Norn can't Compleat them all and somehow every walker we love somehow is saved...yeah not betting on this or and more likely: the Phyrexians are allowed to invade and Compleat multiple planes all seems lost when Teferi and Elspeth in her angel form strike down Norn but cannot/willnot destroy our Walkers who then continue the invasion in the next two sets. Phyrexia is here to stay.

I'm hoping to see a few blocks where the Phyrexians invade and spread their blessing before the problem is fixed. Personally, I'd like to see change come from within the Phyrexian ranks. I'd like Urabrask and Sheoldred to cause enough trouble on home to a point where the invasion has to slow it's advance. I also remember something about Ixhel being corrupted by Geth's incomplete transition and learning something of free will herself. It'd be really interesting to see that free will begin to spread. Unfortunately, I think Teferi ex Machina is going to fix things and set them back the way they were. I'd much rather see some or all of these ramifications stick. Something I think would make the story interesting is if Sorin finds out about Nahiri's completion and vows to help reverse it, of for no other reason than pride or pity.

The climax of this is when Elesh Norn appeared with newly compleated plains walkers. Then, it went calm with the Teferi Zhalfir storyline. Probably, there are new cards soon like Zhalfir, Queen Wezna and General Mageta. Future of MTG story is vast due to Realmbreaker. Keep up the great work!

@@ironfoo1 unfortunately, Elish Norn would know from Tamiyo that they can’t encase The Eldrazi Titans with Their Oil cuz the Eldrazi Titans don’t actually have a form to corrupt. Emrukal volunteered to be placed in the Moon, & said it’s not Innistrad’s Time. It’s a loose story that I’m sure eventually they’ll come back to. Whether it’s for the Phyrexian Invasion or not, I’m sure it’ll be brought up at some point. Plus, Emrukal, was embodiment of the spirits of known planeswalkers until they were corrupted in attempts to save their plane; that ended with their transformation into what we see now. Phyrexians would not dare to touch the Eldrazi since they just devour everything, not replace everything. Though, they did say, phyrexians corrupt the spirits and souls to of their victims.

I think this marks a big change in how Magic works - mechanically, and in terms of story. I don't think there'll be an "answer" to the Phyrexian Menace as you put it, they'll just be an ever-present thing. Perhaps lurking in the shadows, perhaps laying siege to cities. Realmbreaker is literally woven into the fabric of reality at this point. I'm excited to see what happens in March of the Machines.

I think the Phyrexians will become a species like any other, only (hopefully) lead by urabrask so as to not be a forceful conversion kind of people. But I think that realm breaker is sticking around for the foreseeable future and it will be a change in the multiverse dynamic; ever wanted to see how the dragons of tarkir would interact with niv mizzet? Or perhaps a tech convention cohosted by kamigawa and kalladesh? Theros gods vs kaldheim gods? These are the kinds of stories I think we'll be seeing in the future

Yeah as someone mostly outside the MTG sphere I kinda expected people to be more upset about how willy nilly WotC is just effectively ending the story lines of characters that have over 15 years of history to them. Also its not like any new addition to the Lore has been well received, most of the new walkers are either bland or infuriating and most of the enemies should be more interesting but aren't due to the way the story is written. The new planes are cool on a macro level but once you look close at the people and the story taking place there its all just amateur level writing. If you asked anyone how these characters would die they would not answer that they would be killed just as a means to set the stakes on a conflict. Like yeah the phyrexians are a multiversal threat, just like everything else.

With all of those involved with sealing away Emrakul now under the control of the Phyrexians, it's very possible the eldrazi could get involved somehow. Especially if the blind eternities are at risk. Remember, Emrakul MADE Jace and Tamyio seal her away in the moon by forcing Tamyio use some kind of forbidden scroll against her will. Jace communicated with a figment of Emrakul as Emeria, which tells him that she is "incomplete, unfulfilled, inchoate" and that Innistrad should welcome her, not reject her. She willingly lets herself be sealed in the moon. Emrakul told Jace, "I just no longer want to play" and "There should be blossoms, not barren resentment. The soil was not receptive. It is not my time. Not yet". Emeria also appeared at the end of Nissa's vision of Nicol Bolas' plan while she was taking the Trial of Knowledge. I bet they're going to release Emrakul and they all will "welcome her, not reject her" without resentment. As she may be their only hope at this point. Maybe Teferri is their real hope, but using Emrakul to wipe out the Phyrexians for going too far could be more fun lol.

They sent a couple duds (Lukka), but also 3 of the strongest (Jace, Elspeth, Nahiri) and multiple other skilled ones (Kaito, Wanderer, Vraska). The others stayed as protection because Lilliana and Chandra are a worst case scenario given they’re needed to defend if it goes horribly. We’ve already seen in the new story that Lilliana goes to protect and Chandra plus Wrenn go for plan B

I have so many questions. I thought Gin-Gitaxias invented a way to *surgically* compleat a Planeswalker, and that because of their spark regular oil wouldn't compleat them. But now it does??? Also, why did Elspeth take the Sylex away? Didn't they WANT Jace to use the Sylex? Isn't that why they went there??? I thought they knew the risk, why instead just destroy some random plane instead??? When did Nissa get completed??? That just happens off screen? Seriously, so many plot holes.

The oil changed as does phyrexia, they figured out how to use it through surgery and I imagine that’s all they needed. They opened the world tree, they wouldn’t just blow up new phyrexia and mirrodin (which was already pretty bad) but could blow up all connections and planes. There’s also reason to believe Jace pouring in oil instead of blood could have been dangerous. Nissa gets compleated offscreen because we know it happens after Lukka’s story where he hands her over.

Here's my thought: The Golgothian Sylex (Urza's Sylex in the new card) seems to have survived, so, perhaps Teferi will find it, make a silver armor for himself, and go back in time to collect the Sylex, and detonate it within the core of Mirrodin sometime between the original Mirrodin block and the second one.

When we first learned that phyrexians figured out how to complete planeswalkers, I’d assumed it was a more involved process than just infecting them with glistening oil. Kind of disappointing, but I guess it does raise the stakes.

Calix most definitely could be compleated. I think the real question is whether he'd still have his spark after being compleated. I would imagine he would, as Karn(who was also created and given a spark, as opposed to being born with one) was able to retain his spark while being corrupted

WotC has been looking to cash in lately. The DND stuff, Transformers, finally printing Brother's War as a set--don't be shocked if they go all out and bring back Urza or Yawgmoth or whoever they feel like. If those names will sell = its on the table. Karn is still sorta in play as far as we know. I can see the Eldrazi route as well, but maybe not go immediately to that. Jace dying on this note seems unlikely to me too. Face of the brand usually isn't written out when you are talking about an ongoing, for sale product's storytelling.

There are many things I don't think are 100% correct. Luka's experience is fighting giant monsters, not cunning humanoid soldiers, also he literally lost every time he fought anyone. And I don't think Nahiri considers anyone her "friend" much less these new Planeswalkers. They literally just threw the trashiest Planeswalkers (in a narrative and characterization sense) and Vraska at this, there was no chance they wouldn't fail.
