Enjoyed the tribute to Mutombo! Too young, I remember he had a recent commercial that was great.

Awesome tribute for Mutombo! A great player and amazing person! He passed away way to young! Well done Andy!

Thanks Jim. Sadly I think he was forgotten about since he passed on the same day as Rose. Appreciate the kind words. Hope you are well.

Fantastic video on mutombo. I had no idea he had cancer. I will always remember him with the Nuggets and Rockets. He sounds like he was a class act person and we all know he was an amazing player. Love that Stadium Club of him. Always enjoy your videos Andy. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Steve! I was taken back that he passed. I wasn’t aware either. He was one of the few who walked the walk. Someone you could feel comfortable with your kids looking up to. It was a tragic passing because he probably still had so much to give. Thanks for always watching and the comments!

What a great tribute to an iconic basketball player and even better human being. He definitely transcended the game with his popularity via commercials and that one-of-a-kind finger wag. The NBA was played so differently back when he dominated. Very well done Andy!
@Dcollection3 ай бұрын
Thanks, Joe! My son loved Mutombo from that Geico commercial. Kind of wish he’d pull the finger wag in youth basketball, haha. I think with the rule changes late last season we may see the return of the big man in the NBA. May take a few years but I think they’ll be back. Thanks for the kind words and all the support. Hope you are doing well my friend.

Gave a video like. Dikembe Mutombo currently ranks 56th all-time in win shares which is NBA version of WAR. He was an amazing talent. Passed away far too young. Great video, Andy.

Hey Brian! Sorry for such a late response. 56th in win shares, 4 time defensive player of the year, and an ambassador for the league and still left off the top 75 list. Crazy. Thanks for the kind words!

Wonderful tribute to Mutombo. He was a favorite of mine as a kid. His finger wave was great. I don’t know Sterns told him to not do that anymore. Sounds like a stand up guy. Another athlete gone too soon. Enjoyed Andy. Talk with you soon.

Hey Greg! It was hard to not like Dikembe. My son became a fan from his Geico commercial. I kind of wish he’d do the finger wag in youth basketball, haha. Stern finally relented and let him do the finger wag in the air but not directed at anyone in particular. Thanks for the kind words and talk soon!

Hey Steve! That finger wag was so cool. I secretly wish one of my youth basketball players would do it, haha, but you’re right as great of a defender and ball player he was he was a better human being. We lost a great one.

Hi Andy, wonderful tribute to Dikembe. My greatest memory of him is clutching that ball on his back after the Nuggets beat the Sonics. I remember it so vividly. Back then, 8 seeds were not supposed to beat one seeds in the NBA. That was not uncommon in hockey, but in basketball usually the higher seeds would be in the finals. What an amazing series that was. As always, you did a great job narrating the video and drawing us in to the player on not only his impact on you, but on the court and beyond. I didn't realize he wasn't a basketball player for much of his youth. I also didn't realize the Commissioner banned his finger wave. Lol. The card you show captures the essence of Dikembe. Thanks for sharing!
@Dcollection3 ай бұрын
Hi Terry! Him clutching that ball was an incredible image. Stern didn’t like the taunting so the wag went away for a while. Years later I think Stern allowed it if it was up in the air and not directed at anyone. He had a growth spurt which made him look at basketball differently but was still just a hobby. I appreciate his defense but the work he did off the court is hall of fame worthy. Sadly with him passing on the same day as Rose I think he was forgotten about. I almost shared his rookie but thought this was more classic Mutombo. Thanks for the kind words as always, Terry. Hope you’re having a great week.

Fantastic tribute Andy. I remember him so well, especially watching him with Denver and Atlanta. Had the privilege of going to a fair amount of Hawks games back then. Of course I remember his rookie card from UD and I thought I was gonna be rich one day between that and my shaqs. He was a fantastic human being more importantly. RIP to a legend 👊🏻🏀

Hey David! I almost shared his rookie but thought this was more fitting. Plus for whatever reason I always picture that big Hawk on his chest when I think of Mutombo. Not many like him as a human being. Thanks for all the comments and the support. Hope you’re doing well.

Great tribute. I remember him being a beast on the court but really didn’t realize everything that he has done off the court. Hey Mike! I think it was a disservice that he wasn’t on the 75th list. He did so much for the nba and was a 4 time defensive player of the year. The accomplishments he had off the court was nothing short of amazing. It’s really tragic he went so young. So much more could have been accomplished. Hopefully someone picks up where he left off. Hope you are well and having a great week. Thanks for all the support!

Howdy Andy ! What a Great Show honoring a really good person who did so much for others and not just throwing a few bucks towards the "cause of the moment". I cant remember if he did the finger wag on the Simpsons or Family Guy, either way, funny cameo from a guy who had a sense of humor, unless he was playing a game. No smiles then. Fun to watch him intimidate great players. Well said Show D ! Another Good One. C ya!
@Dcollection3 ай бұрын
Hey Tom! With him passing so young it was tragic the work he still could have accomplished. If only more would walk the walk and not talk the talk. I planned on doing this after hearing of his death but kind of got tired of all the Pete Rose tributes and no mention of Mutombo. He was great on and off the court. Not sure if he was on the Simpson’s but he was for sure on Family Guy. Stewie had Mutombo knock out Brian. My knowledge of Family Guy supersedes the knowledge I have on anything else. I swear I could teach a college course on Family Guy, haha. Thanks for watching and the comment. Hope you and Otis are well.

@Dcollection Hey Andy I know you were a big Family Guy man, but your knowledge is deep. All day long I have either Bob's Burgers playing or Family Guy in the background. Less music nowadays, I lean towards things that make me laugh. You wanna talk weak effort, Token BS donation. Metallica donated 100K towards the Hurricane effort. The drummer Lars is worth over 300 million just himself. An embarrassing donation from a bunch of old guys who still think they are cool. They are not. I hate to say it, but they are local boys from the Bay Area. The world lost a great humanitarian when John Lennon was murdered. A day I'll never forget. C ya D

@@SouvenirProgramsHereI don’t think there’s been an episode of Family that hasn’t made me laugh. My wife rolls her eyes all the time but I constantly tell her it’s a much smarter show than what people credit it for. Or maybe I’m just really dumb, haha. All of my knowledge of musical theater is from Family Guy, haha. You referenced it once the the episode where they got Mark Davis haircuts was great. Agree about John Lennon. $100k to some is like $30 to you and me.
