Tried all the turn auxiliary power on and hold down climate or info and flash the lights quick fixes and none worked. But this one actually worked and it’s back to normal. Thanks so much for making it and sharing it in the PriusChat forum.

No problem but I highly recommend getting the chip replaced. You can look up offers on eBay. It’s cheap now especially if there’s a local person near you.

I’m so glad the video helped. For long term fix, go in ebay or any community groups and type in 2006 Prius dash capacitor” sometimes you will find people who can fix it near you.

Worked for me, thanks! I had to disconnect all 3 wire clips to get the main plug out. Also, easier if you take the tub out to access the area.

THANK YOU! We just had this on our 2008, hubby was freaking out about it! (Did you know with the "big" battery pack, when it starts to fail, you don't have to replace the entire thing? There is a place in Santa Monica, and probably elsewhere by now, that will test each cell. You only have to replace the bad cells - maybe $100 each? - instead of the whole bank for several thousand!)

Simple one is to open any door and watch "OPEN DOORS" light which should be off, same time press brake and release and turn lights to low beam and off couple of times until "OPEN DOORS" light came on. After light is on you can start the car normally.

When you do this. The only concern. Is now the gas tank icon start blanking saying its low even tho it full. Does it even comeback to normal ?

my gauge fuse had blown, I had a short somewhere. I found that the ground cable for the rear window wiper was loose so i tightened it and replaced the fuse and there we go (: everything works again.

Bullshit I was a Toyota mechanic for 40 years. MECHANIC not Technician We would rebuild everything. Cabuerators (if you even know what that is,brake cylinders before calipers, master cylinders, replace a clutch and pressure plate on a stick shift or a torque converter on an automatic transmission. False information. You have a bad combination meter. Do not fully close the drivers door if you are making a quick stop and just to get stuff for the trip. Next morning you will have the same problem because you are going to lock it for overnight security and not drain your battery. Solution sit in the car with the drivers door open, put your foot on the brake,do not start the car. Put your foot on the brake pedal and pull the lights handle towards you and on your FOB keep going back and forth from lock to unlock. You will see the open door light up on the dashboard and you are good to go.

This is not the fix. The fix is the Capacitor on the Multy Display board. You need to replace the 100uf 16v to a 220uf 16v is that simple

Basically made your version of another video? just to show how the other person had fixed an issue that u also have. intersting that this a SoCal hack but what was hacked?. Removing power and reconnecting is not a hack because nothing was modified/add/removed. Now if u were to put a switch on the dash to cut the power is more likely be consider as hack. But thanks for the effort in the video that has been done by someone else.

another easier fix is: open a door and sit for half a minute and then click on the hazards and sit for another minute and then turn the head lights on. This should bring the all the lights on but if it doesn't then pump the break hard, this should for sure (95%) bring the lights on. If the above doesn't work then instead of turning the head lights on.. hold the lights to high beams, this should work too. If all of the above don't work then keep the hatch open and driver side door open and try the above tips. This used to happen a lot when I kept any of the door open for say 5mins mind that I had a weaker 12v battery, at times it used to show 10.5-11.5 volts. I recently replaced the battery, I can reproduce the same problem if I immediately try to start the car after coming from somewhere and then letting the water coolant pump run after turning the car off. However, if I give some time after the pump runs then the car starts normally.

Yes, so best to replace the little module. Services are pretty cheap on eBay now. You send the part that need to be foxed and they mail it back to you.

It's was actually cheap. On eBay it was only 50 for me but I had to bring it to him. It took maybe 30 to 45 minutes to fix.
