No Offense is a provocative short film that tackles the perilous intersection of art, politics, and free speech. Using humour to underscore the absurdity of political free speech and repression, the film's director, Kris Borghs doesn't shy from the controversial nature of his subject matter. Instead, he embraces it, challenging his audience to consider the boundaries of artistic freedom. *What did you think?*

I like how much the protagonist fights to survive and how it works off of or leads onto some side effects. Like him almost being able to grab the pencil due to the pile created, or him knocking the three others into a group by pulling against the rope he was on, leading to them getting charred together and projecting the embers into the air that he ends up catching. This all of course doesn't stop the inevitability of his art being criticized by the jury, but it makes it more rewarding to see him make it through his struggle, of course until he didn't, lol.

Because the people and the drawings of them represent ideas not a literal person themselves. I think the creator chose Christianity, as in the last 30-40 years, in the west, mocking Christianity has been more and more acceptable. (As it should be). The figure of the pope waking up, represents that, in the future, this might not be okay. It does not make one paint nor paint a black or white picture which is rare for modern media. The comedy of it also at the end showing how the art piece offended the ecutioner shows how art is inherently offensive. All real art is offensive, in some way or form, it will be pffensive somehow and this anomation shows how it does not inherently also have to be a large political idealogy with the last bit. @BerryTheBnnuy9 ай бұрын
@@idcallname8410 There's no such thing as "cancel culture". That's just a made up term to demonize the freedom of association and to whine about about being called out for being a terrible person. The argument you're giving has in my experience invariably come from people who think that "Blazing Saddles can't be done today" such an argument is woefully mistaken. Satire like Blazing Saddles works even today, but it's because of what it's satirizing. Its racist jokes didn't satirize people who think "racism bad", it satirized people who make those very jokes. Blazing Saddles was, to use modern parlance, "punching up". What gets "canceled" is punching down. In short, Blazing Saddles is not funny because it makes fun of black people. It makes fun of people making fun of black people by showing how stupid it is to make fun of black people. THAT is satire. You wouldn't kick a defenseless puppy, would you? If you would, you're a horrible shit stain of a person. Attacking people who are less fortunate and less privileged than you is not satire, it's bigotry and abuse. But humorously aping the power dynamic that allows and enables the imbalance of privilege in the first place to attack that very imbalance, that's what satire is.

I percieved that ending with all the different world leaders laughing out loud at that drawing in a sense that nobody cares about the common folk who do the work (The guy who pulled the lever in this case) if they're the ones getting ridiculed and laughed at, as long as it's not *THEM* who are getting the slack, meaning the commoners are the ones that have to defend themselves. Very interesting animated short indeed.

i have no idea what this is supposed to mean because "everyone will get offended by any art" clearly doesnt apply when the artists themselves are only capable of drawing new age caricatures of certain groups and people aimed obviously at making some sort of political statement, of course art is subjective, and that everything is art and yadda yadda but this doesnt make me feel sympathetic towards the artists, it only makes them come off as unoriginal one trick ponies

@@Atom_X. its not that censoring is okay, its that in a world where every artist is a raging political estet it would make sense why the upper crust is centered around censoring said artists, its almost as if we cant have artists that display the beauty of nature, of human imagination, why is it that artistic expressions always have to be weaponized

one thing i like most about this is how all of the convicts distinguishing features are removed before being put on trial, so some of them could've been totally in their right to make the offensive painting, but since they look like everyone else, they are convicted as if they are anyone else. it parallels the internet, because a chinese person could make an offensive chinese joke, but because of their concealed online identity, everyone acts like they are a racist for making the joke, even though it was completely fine for that person to do it.

@@PeterStrings hi peter, if i was a coward i would say that theres no point in trying to have a good faith conversation with someone who is using your tactic of painting me as a troll in advance, to give an excuse to run away if you fail to win in a fair debate that being said, im not a coward and would be happy to debate you in order to do this i think it would be helpful if you could define what exactly your argument is, such that i will be in a position to judge it. as it stands, i cannot find any argument in your original comment - only grammatically indecipherable whining about the inclusion of feminism and minorities in this video
@PeterStrings8 ай бұрын
Responding to my comment by calling me out as having "low emotional stability" is texbook definition of being a troll on the internet. I post my concern, and you simply join the conversation to insult me, instead of explaining what I got wrong. So I don't care if you get offended by calling you a troll. Brushing off my comment as "grammatically incoherent" surely makes you look like a reasonable person. Starting off with an ad hominem argument. Secondly, the argument is pretty simple. Putting feminism on par with political satire against dictators is just bad faith. Offending tyrannical political figures that got into positions of power by claiming to be omnipotent figures, is something that should be encouraged. That's punching up. Writing offensive content against minorities or discriminated groups is clearly punching down. No matter how loud any radical feminist screams on twitter, they are not going to get you hanged or executed and dropped in a ditch, like Hitler or Casto would have. Having them side by side is a low effort comparison to make, and brushes off excluded groups that get offended when they are prejudiced. Like, let's say for instance, having exaggerated big lips in a black person caricature, or crooked teeth in the asian guy. Those are just outdated stereotypes that shouldn't be encouraged. There's a lot of people out there that we can make fun of, people in positions of power. It's stupid to consider that offending minority groups is as brave as writing cartoons of Hitler sucking dick
