Star Wars Market is to saturated now. The vintage is to expensive plus with the retro versions think some people go the cheaper option or unsure what's vintage and what's modern.

It takes time for people to adjust to accepting a new value point. Buying up any cheap listings will help drive demand (and consequently price) up again.

I only need about 3 of the last 17 vintage figures. The problem now is the prices are getting higher with age and availability. Plus some prices are now getting ridiculously high due to what people see sold in auctions like vinyl cape jawas etc and put their prices up accordingly believing that is the norm.

I think most collectors our age have or have seen pretty much everything regarding vintage star wars at this point. I personally look for more obscure toy lines for new content
@jdoyleweb5 ай бұрын
I think you answered your own question throwing out some of this prices $2k for a Vintage Luke? Just can't afford that anymore. I missed the boat on carded. I own almost all of them loose complete and I have bought nearly all the retro line and removed the stickers. They look awesome and were $25 each. I get as much joy out of them as I would a vintage carded. ( Of which I own maybe 8) Its just too damn expensive these days. If you wanna drop your prices then maybe but I don't see that happening!! Even a loose complete stormtrooper goes for over $100 AUD these days.

Part of the problem is the grading.people see what people are charging for graded figures and price their beat up figures the same price.This makes ALOT of people just say no way.As for me I can't afford the carded ones so I try to get loose complete in good condition.

Maby you’re far from the only SW Channel. But yes, prices are declining. However those two, they should have a buyer or two outthere. Price depending, as usual. I said it a couple of years ago, and I’m following it up. Selling my loose, mocs (pretty F’ing hard) boxed playsets. The graded figs must wait. Then there’s all the toys..*SIGH* The new generations, don’t really collect. We will (1-2 decades away) be a dying breed.. 1 thing, face 2 face sales are super good for me! Online suffers! A small wave rite now, but it’s generally hard (after covid)..

Gen Xers are aging out. The franchise has also changed. These old Star Wars figures go for about $2 each at small Comicons around me... although, they're not complete like this. However, why would we want them complete? If we want one, we just want to put it on our desk or shelf and move it around remembering how we used to play with them, and then forget about it. Vintage toy sellers around me are getting away from them. They're the new Dinky Cars.

I remember when I could buy an AFA graded Droids A-Wing Pilot MOC for about $250. Now it’s $1000-$2000 for an ungraded MOC figure. Basically prices are so out of reach that I’ve simply lost interest and decided to focus mostly on loose vintage or modern figures. I’ll never NOT be interested in vintage Kenner Star Wars figures, but I just can’t justify paying hundreds or thousands of dollars for a single toy anymore.

I think there's various factors why vintage Star Wars isn't selling. The price of vintage figures is high. The economy isn't helping much and it reflects on sites like eBay. The other factor is how Disney treated Star Wars. I've seen vintage figures being dumped at thrift stores because people were fed up with Disney's mistreatment of Star Wars.
@AussieToyHunterАй бұрын
I can see that is a factor

Don’t forget most sellers are using Ebay’s GSP now, scaring away potential international buyers due to extreem shipping prices set by ebay. On top of that they need to pay taxes over item and shipping.

Black series is pretty much way nicer. But vintage figures are way over valued and collectors are not spending like before. Especially with hyper inflation and economic downturn for most people globally. Though long term those carded vintage figures should be solid investments if in high grade. Low graded carded figures and loose I don't think so.

I'm a bit late to this video but I do have a perspective that perhaps others watching this may not. Normally I would be the one buying these, I grew up with them but instead I buy the star wars retro collection. I get that loads of people will say they are bad, nothing like collecting the real thing and so on. However you asked why this may be happening and from my perspective and others like me, i choose those over vintage because i get to hunt for carded figures in stores that i had when i was a kid for reasonably cheap and for me ints avout that experience and its about having a brand new product making it feel like collecting my childhood for tje first time again. Considering millions have been sold so far, i would consifer that a contributing factor in addition to the crazy economy and state of collecting. Thats just my personal thoughts anyway.

It’s really simple, Star Wars has been killed by Kathleen Kennedy and Disney. The Cash Cow that once was has been terminated in 10 years due to a change of direction, subverting expectations, rewritten for modern audiences, putting diversity first (when it already was diverse) is what happened. As a result, my boys have gone off it, I have one who was a massive fan but no longer due to the Force is Female direction of LucasFilm and assassinating solid characters that once represented hope but now represents an old angry murderous white male. It’s like peeing and pooing on a Picasso or Rembrandt then not understanding why it won’t sell for millions which you bought it for. Luckily my youngest is still on the hunt for vintage figs as he tries to close out his collection (promise I didn’t brain wash him). Quite simple, Star Wars is dead. It’s a damaged brand. Even this week Kathleen Kennedy called Star Wars fans toxic. What do you expect? Fans to stay with that stuff happening. No thanks. Anime know how to treat their fans and funny enough both my boys have gravitated to that genre.

The Star Wars franchise is cooked. LEGO Star Wars is still quite popular. I am selling off all my LEGO Star Wars stuff while its still desirable. All the purchasers are older millennials. Kids don’t like Star Wars. They think it’s stupid. This is the problem when the Star Wars content is bad. When a franchise can’t attract new blood, it dies a slow death. The old stuff is good, but you can’t expect 40 year old movies that have not aged well to attract the youth. Right now, the LEGO themes kids like is Ninjago, Minecraft, Mario, and Marvel. The only Star Wars fans left are “junkies.” The ones addicted to the franchise that will say “well, the show was bad, but at least it’s Star Wars!” Addicts.

Why are you equating views of your channel to an entire market? Like everything, the market is down, you’re a small channel though. Strange comment. Look at other KZbinrs who scan the market. Then you’re got people commenting saying ‘the market is too high so there’s no buyers’… Um, these old figures are expensive because of DEMAND. If no one wanted them they’d be cheap, they’re not. Some of your viewer’s opinions are as backward as yours.
