Agree to disagree here. I think she honestly did the best someone could be expected to in her situation. We have after all seen her try to manage them since they were children. They just didn't listen.

@@hurremsultanas at that point, years of competition had taken their toll. Hurrem should have stopped this nonsense when Selim and Bayazid were kids. She didn't. Instead, she kept on turning down Bayazid's side of the story, while giving Selim the right simply because he was older

"My patience is running thin with you, Bayazid. -Selim did it! He broke my bow, mother! He... -That's enough! No matter what, Selim is your older brother and you are not to disrespect him in any way. This is your last warning, Bayazid. Do not force me to take more drastic measures. Consequences will be... unpleasant." Does this exchange sound to you like a mother who's trying to protect her son from his own recklessness?
