Magnus pretty much destroyed in this game that was an awesome attack from Arjun early in game targeting the f2 square with the 3 pieces Bishop Queen knight Magnus not responding correctly I can imagine how pissed Magnus was after this game he always expects himself to make only best moves Consolation he already has the tournament won but I’m sure he’ll bounce back he always does Great win for Arjun he has to be very happy after accomplishing this fantastic game Thanks Agadmator

Arjun really hit Magnus' Achilles and it was obvious he looked rattled in the final game against Vidit. He was even on the brink of defeat in that one as well but miraculously made a come back. He is still top pf the table and more importantly we will see wounded Magnus tomorrow which is even more viciously stronger than ordinary Magnus!! Salute to Arjun ofc for being fearless

All human grandmasters can fall like a deck of cards if the right moves are played against them or if they make a miscalculation. Only Stockfish etc can avoid an occasional off game.

Carlsen too got schooling in his initial years from Vishy, he was like - 5 in classical but then after some experience he simply rolled Vishy. This simple logic is lacking in people who are just criticizing these talented youngsters. Of course, most these fellows are below 1500 elo and without an engine they will not have any clue but ready to criticize the youngsters.

Surprising Magnus in the opening is the only strategy to gain advantage over him in the game. Openings have been somewhat of a weakness of him throughout his career, it's just that most of the other top players aren't going to take that risk.

The problem is that Carlsen himself often take people out of opening theory by playing a sidelline, and it's a very effective strategy. It's very dangerous to end up in a situation where the game comes down to pure calculation, and your opponent is Magnus Carlsen. He just plays too fast and rarely makes mistakes.

There’s a big difference between your opponent outplaying you, and losing the game on the spot with a one move blunder. Nxc2 with check and next move you pick the knight with Qxc5. Also, there is Nf2+ after Nxc2 and the king moves(queen is pinned)

8....Ng4 is not a new move. It has been played twice by Denis Lazavik in Titled Tuesday,once in 2022 and once in 2024. Pap - Lazavik continued 12.g3 Ne5 in 2024 whilst Svane continued 12.g3 0-0 in 2022. The defeat of Magnus was caused by a gross blunder,not by being outplayed.
