Every draft assessment assumed he would be a 2 or 3 year project. The exact opposite of your observation is true - it was ahead of schedule for him to get on the field at all last year.

Defense might be decent but we dont get TJ until week 5, Aaron Jones needs to prove he can stay healthy, Darnold is a backup and we're probably trading for a qb and out of the 1st and second round for this year and maybe next year. Not to mention, Harrison Smith looked old last year, we still dont really have decent d back besides byron murphy and we lost 2 really good edge rushers to get Greenard who isnt better than a healthy davenport. I think we got worse from last year but its a rebuild.

Realistically, I don't think the Vikings will be able to horse trade up any higher than #4 overall without giving away the whole store, and that means JJ McCarthy.

If they traded both the 11th pick and the 26th pick or wherever the other 1st rounder is, you can go up to 3 and get the Patriots pick. Maybe their 2nd round too but still, as Daniels or May, it would probably be worth it to throw to Jefferson. If it was me tho, mortgage whatever future you need to, even if it’s both 1st round picks, your 2nd and 3rd, your 1st, 2nd and 3rd next year and even the 1st the following year to go get Drake May at 2, and Marvin Harrison at 4. Then you have May throwing to Jefferson and Marvin Harrison Jr. that’s elite. Who cares what they give up. That could be a Super Bowl team with no offensive line, a decent defense, mostly pass rush and ball hawks, and the best passing game if May can ball.

@@Tiredashelljoe107 bro has been a captain on every team he has been on. i dont think that is average. griffen is a CB2 on most teams in this league and for sure a CB3 on every other. doesnt matter depth is key at a postion we needed it last year. it allows us to develop booth and blackman, while bringing in a veteren that can help them get better or force them to if they want to play. Murphy, blackmon, evans, griffen, booth is a solid CB room. the most depth we have had in the last 5 years

@@waynezimmerman1716 The trouble with disagreeing is that the Vikes FO and coaches have pretty much indicated that the IOL is not near the top of their list of priorities for the 2024 offseason. They have intentionally made a 3 year commitment to Bradbury and Brandel, and have not resigned Risner, yet. It's possible that they have a deal agreed with Risner and are just waiting out the FA Compensatory period. However that would not help the Vikes IOL because re-signing Risner doesn't affect the Vikes FA count, and would only help the comp picks if he was signed by someone else. It doesn't look like there are any remaining FAs that would upgrade the Vikes IOL, except maybe Connor Williams, but it has been noted that he might retire because of his injury. And it seems improbable that the Vikes are banking on finding a starter on day 3 of the draft, project players for depth, late season competition and potentially start in 2025, absolutely, but a week 1 starter seems very unlikely. To me fan chatter about the IOL is pretty pointless because it seems implicit that the Vikes either have a plan in place for a late FA signing, or are going with what they have.

Not a train wreck, but definitely an area of weakness. I thought Ed Ingram actually took a step forward in 2023. Dalton Risner is great in pass protection but not great in run blocking. Garrett Bradbury is just a guy, and struggles to stay healthy. I would like to see them get a new center.

The o line in Minnesota was always decimated by injuries. Injuries to o line are often a result of a QB that was slow and needed extra time. Holding blocks longer creates injuries to the line. Kirk was a statue.

Bradbury was injured on Minnesota's seventh offensive snap of Week 1 against the Buccaneers and replaced by backup center Austin Schlottmann. Bradbury and Darrisaw were out the following week, forcing the Vikings to use their second of an eventual eight different starting offensive line combinations.

They signed Shaq Griffin at CB. They could still add another. KOC is great with QBs, and they brought in Josh McCown as QB coach. It will by far be the best situation Darnold has been in. I see them taking McCarthy and giving him a year behind Darnold. Next season with will have tons of cap qith Kirk and Hunter's deadcap gone. With their 2nd pick in the draft, they need to take a true NT. A dude that can absorb bodies and let our other guys feast. I'd also like to see some iOL help, and a RB.

Baker Mayfield with cmc on Carolina. 1-6 record. Sam Darnold in Carolina without Cmc. 4-2 record. The same exact roster. Sam can ball. And only 26 years old. Minnesota fans are brutal. See how this yeat goes. Draft a qb or lock up sam next season. But give him every chance to win, insread of drafting some 4th or 5th best qb in this class. That makes the most sense. Unless the defense becomes a top 5 unit the offense with sam darnold most likely won't flourish in my opinion. they need a top 3pick qb or to just try and bolster the rest of the team and not really worry about qb too much this season. Go into next offseason with a higher pick. Although if mcarthy or penix is there at 11 grab one of them too but niether are worth trading up for last thing we want to be is the bears with trubisky

Vikes should trade JJ for Arizona’s #4 and next year’s second rounder, then use #4 on Marvin Harrison, Jr., giving them a superstar WR on the cheap. Use #11 on McCarthy, and #23 on DeJean Cooper. The rest of the draft would be gravy after that.

Imagine if the Vikings don't trade up for a QB. Assuming that four QBs go in the top ten, that could mean the Vikings could land Brock Bowers at 11, then a great DL at 23. If teams aren't quite so QB crazy, then McCarthy might drift back to 11. Otherwise, Vikes could land Penix at 23, and have a great gunslinger arm to challenge Sam Darnold.

Maye ain't going 2. Daniels goes two. Even if you give up a 2 or 3 or 4 even, gotta sit that kid for a season, generally like to see that high a pick be an immediate play maker for a team. But gotta develop the kid right whoever that is. Prefer JJ over Maye. Plays with more grit and is used to a balanced offense. Mayes fine, but I like JJ or Jayden. This team needs to address the interior of the offensive line badly. It's too inconsistent, even if they sign dalton, they need more depth.bi don't like bradberry, I don't think he's worth the money, Ingram isn't great at all, hopefully theyve come along ways this off-season but historically been pretty trash. Kirk was one of the most hit QBs, and having a QB who can run doesn't negate those issues. That's also a reason the run game wasn't great there's just nothing to run through, and with protection for our new QBs, it opens up TONS for the offemse

The Vikings should move up and draft Marvin Harrison Jr, with their 1st draft pick, 4th, and 6th, and next years 3rd and go get the 4th pick. Then take their 2nd, 1st round pick, and their 2nd rd pick, 3rd rd pick and get the 5th pick and get Malik Neighbors. They would have: Just Jefferson Marvin Harrison Jr Malik Neighbors Then they should absolutely tank. 1-16. And get the 1st overall pick next year. Take the best QB next year and you have the best passing game of all time. Those would be the best 3 receivers of all time on one team. That will get them a cheep deal at 2 receivers and a QB. Which would give them money to sign free agents. Plus everyone would want to play with them. Also they could possibly trade the number 1 pick next year for Caleb Williams after Caleb has a semi par season based on him playing for the bears. They might be in the market for a redo if Caleb looks bad because you know, he plays for the bears. Or even May.

No way they are able to trade up to #2. Maybe #4 or #5 where Arizona and the Chargers aren't looking for a QB. The top three will draft the best QB's available and the Vikes at 4 or 5 will take JJ.
