@@Leo.23232and why did he get clipped over and over again? Do you think it might be because he never took his head of mid-line and was just waiting about to get clobbered like the dude you're replying to was saying? 🤔 Ngannou boxes very flat footed and doesn't adjust his guard or move his head much. I honestly couldn't figure out how Fury didn't piece him up because his boxing was pretty shit in their fight. I honestly thought it was a work. On the one hand, it was nice to see some redemption for boxing since every mma fan was calling it bullshit after Ngannou narrowly lost to Fury. But on the other hand, the knockout was brutal and I like Francis so it was tough to watch him get demolished like that. But from a boxing perspective that was a bloodbath. Ngannou was just a lamb to the slaughter. And yeah, Joshua would be even more so in MMA, but he'd never do it because he knows that too. Francis did it for the money and I hope he got an absolute bag. But that was tough to watch. Everyone giving shit to Strickland for going hard on Sneako, but this ended worse.

Mighty Mouse has an excellent technical breakdown of the fight on his channel. Interestingly, he said that he would favour Joshua against Ngannou even in an MMA match due to his overall technical superiority and athleticism. Interesting coming from the guy who made quick work of Rodtang in MMA rules. Boxing is obviously much more important in the heavier weight classes of MMA than the lighter classes (Topuria aside), but I’m not sure it outweighs grappling. I don’t think its far fetched to say Joshua with 6 months MMA training would be favoured against a kickboxer like Gane,, but does he think AJ beats Aspinall in MMA too, a faster and more technical boxer and grappler than Ngannou? I think that would be tougher to argue. Interesting cases of styles make fights. Usyk with a brown belt in BJJ would be a problem for LHW though.

Completely disagree with this fighter pay stuff. Yes, the UFC does underpay some fighters and the biggest stars in the sport don't get paid as much as the biggest names in boxing (except Connor). But, firstly the UFC doesn't take away half their money if they lose, they give them a bonus when they win! That's a big difference. Secondly UFC fighters earn WAY more than boxers. There is less than a handful of boxers that earn crazy money, Tyson, AJ, Canello and perhaps a couple of other names. But if you look down the card of any event, they get paid a pittance. With all Jake Paul's nonsense about fighter pay, one of the fighters on (I think it was the Askren or Silva card) earned $1500 dollars lol. And lastly, and most importantly, for most of the events the UFC is the star of the show, the UFC is the draw. People buy a UFC event because they are fans of the UFC and know they are going to get a good product. If you as a fighter draw more PPV buy's than the base fan base, then you are considered a draw and will get paid way more like Conor did. And although I really like France's he lies about his pay like allot of fighters do. He said in multiple interviews that he had to borrow 50k off of Usman because he was broke after his last UFC fight! But at that time he had a 500K watch on his wrist! lol Even if you add up just his show/win fee's he would have to spend money like an absolute moron to be broke after his last UFC event. All the top fighters earn way more than their show/win money. Frances draws no PPV buys, so if his headlining an event only fans of the UFC tune in, so why should Frances get paid 20 million like he asked for when he has no fan base?? The UFC made him a millionaire and famous and I think his ungrateful. Also: No, they can't fight for other promotions while under contract with the UFC, but they don't have to sign a UFC contract, there are loads of promotions they can fight for. And Of course Dana and the UFC didn't want their heavyweight campion going off to fight heavyweight boxing champions. Not because Dana's evil and don't want them to earn money, but because he doesn't want them to get Knocked the f&*k out and embarrassed. It hurts the UFC's brand and Frances's. Frances had no business in the ring with AJ or Tyson, he got extremely lucky in the Tyson fight and it tricked allot of people into thinking this was a good idea lol Something else people never take into account is that the UFC has over 600 fighters on the roster. most of whom don't draw anything at all and the UFC loses money on allot of events, it's why they built the apex so they can hold these events themselves and not lose money renting an empty arena,

Imo it isn't that hard to make an argument that Anthony Joshua is better than Tyson Fury. Francis caught Fury by surprise cool but a fighter as skilled as Fury is marketed to be should've been able to make adjustments and win that fight on fundamentals alone. AJ won that fight with basic jab cross and footwork, exactly the skills Tyson Fury is supposed to be the best at in the division. Francis had only one punch which was the counter left hook and Fury was still incapable of figuring out how to get inside and start his offence And not just Francis either. Otto Wallin was also overrated for no reason other than he looked good against Fury until AJ made him quit

PRELIM FIGHTERS DO BRING IN MONEY. They allow UFC to fill time slots to fulfill TV deals worth hundreds of millions. A huge part of UFC revenue comes from those fighters being on the roster.

Not to downplay getting into the UFC, but fast food franchises also make billions by having a lot of workers manning a large number of stores. Rather than chefs with a name and reputation, they hire replaceable workers. It's not the workers who make those billions, it's the brand, if they change jobs and go work at a mom & pop store the revenue will be nothing compared to a multinational. I know people won't like the comparison but the UFC dilluted the brand to get those lucrative deals. If X won't fight on those broadcasts then Y or Z will, those are the guys that would hop onto PFL or Karate Combat if they couldn't get a slot in the UFC.

Check his Knockout record. AJ is a knockout artist. The biggest problem in his career is that he lost confidence after the first Ruiz fight, and stopped being aggressive. Now, with Ben Davidson as his trainer, that aggression seems to be back, but he’s also still technically sound.

Not really. He tried to hype himself up as the next big thing in boxing and is now 0-2 with one extremely embarassing loss. So nobody is tuning in to watch him box again. And UFC is not taking him back after he turned his back on them and left. He better save his money because he has no draw anymore.

I think the Tyson Fury fight got to Francis' head a little bit. If you reeaaally think about it, it'll take more years of boxing experience than Francis has left in his combat career to truly be able to contend with REAL boxers that have been boxing for about half their lives. Francis is 37 & A.J. might've just taken 2yrs or more off of his career with that KO. You can't train for 6 months to a year for a fight against a guy that's been boxing since he was a teenager. The learning curve is just too steep.
