I love living in Tampa. Pure paradise. Palm trees, warm temps for most of the year, and the ability to drive with the top down in January is my idea of heaven.

We were lucky to buy our three one home in November 2018 in the Jungle Terrace neighborhood. It's out of a flood zone but it was built in 1958 on a chicken ranch. They buried the wooden chicken coops and we had to pay a contractor out of pocket to raise two corners of our home. $18,000

Cool guy...yeah st.peteus breathtaking I was born in Tampa and from the teen years in...the journey across Courtney Campbell causeway to the great beaches, us a great 39min drive, however NOW it 7s as dangerous as I-4 with screaming reckless speeders! Leisurely driving to the beach is over. Andt for the day to day living in st.pete, madiera, all those adjacent...it floods during the day with barely a rain often because the coastline keeps moving inland, many municipality beach towns have cemented up the street drains, because the surf comes up and fills yards to the doorstep. Lakes, golf course ponds ALL contain alligators, I would never swim in fresh water, never. you have to pound that into tourists and kids who think they can wade, look at those guys exiting a ditch from under a roadway...people think they are slow walking thing that ignores you, NOT, don't walk your dog unless you want to die, they will spring out! I lived in PHILA/then Manhattan for 25yrs and miss it, but I ached for the Warmth of the sun, and couldn't survive the cold any longer.

As much as we love the west coast, we chose the east to not have to deal with the red tide

I feel ya on that.

I've lived directly on the water in Downtown Tampa for the past 25 years and have never experienced any red tide woes during that quarter-century (although I did when living in Sarasota further south), and I've lived though plenty of hurricanes as well, yet few have been direct hits and those that were didn't hit us hard. Every local has its meteorological woes - blizzards, earthquakes, tornadoes - we only have the latter. There are no more bugs here than anywhere else in Florida (and substantially less than inland areas) and the cost of living is far less here than Miami and Palm Beach and perhaps equal to Orlando, while exponentially less than other major cities in the US. Yes, traffic's bad but pales when compared to Miami, NYC, LA, Atlanta, Chicago, Boston, DC and others.

is florida still recovering from the most recent hurricane?

Florida is always recovering from a hurricane somewhere.

I don’t think people realize that Tampa really has no beaches 😂.. if I were from out of state, I’d be looking at Saint Pete or Sarasota. But then again, the entire coastline will likely be underwater in 20 years. And at this point red tide is a yearly phenomenon.. I’m looking for a place with cool summers and mild winters, like the Pacific Northwest far away from the cascadia fault! Really enjoyed this video btw!

Gulf Coast is NOT the place to live. Miserably hot and humid. East Coast Atlantic side of Florida is exponentially better.
