I have seen magnet fishers hooking the rope to a trailer hitch and pulling. They could use a grappling hook as well, if they can grab the magnet. They might also be able to dislodge it from the shore, pulling it over would reduce total magnetic surface. Last resort, swimming or boating maybe.
