When EVERYONE and their brothers were doing feature demos of the last iteration Hohem M6, Philip Scraba did something different. He demonstrated the gimbal tracking him... with NOTHING in it. The empty gimbal was tracking at what appeared to be good accuracy. That was impressive!

On that gimbal can the phone be balanced when its usb port is holding the dji mic mini Reciever? How would you accommodate that Receiver?

Great review! It sounds like a fantastic smartphone gimbal with unique features not yet offered by DJI or Insta360 on theirs. But at $299, you might as well opt for a DJI Pocket 3, which offers similar features except for 360 tracking. The Pocket 3 will also probably provide better video quality over most smartphones, you don’t have to drain your smartphone’s battery or interrupt your shoot with calls, and there’s no hassle of connecting the phone to the gimbal. Still, great device, but at that price point there’s better options imo.

Hi, they sent me here to ask for help, hopefully you can point me in the right direction. I was looking for a gimbal for a Samsung s24 Ultra, but I'm a bit of a privacy guy, so they tell me the Osmo Mobile 6 requires an app, and even worse a DJI account, to function correctly. Furthermore, they say it's limited to the 10x zoom, while I use my phone for plane spotting up to 100x . So could you suggest me an alternative with the same stabilization performance (and zoom wheel on the handle), that works without additional apps? Thanks.

You can rotate the phone holder to switch between vertical and horizontal shooting.

It depends what you want from the gimbal. The main difference between the two is that the M7 has object tracking for different kinds of subjects, can handle a heavier payload, and has realtime preview.

It looks identical as iSteady M6. Slightly new interface and telescopic stick - which is cool. Remote control - nice to have. The problem of this gimbal - it is too heavy and large. I have been testing and reviewing it with iPhone 16 Pro vs DJi Osmo Pocket 3 - I would still go with OP3. The biggest issue of this gimbal - the lock mechanism is too fragile. And can be easily stuck. AI tracking has a distance limit. The price is too high.

Op3 doesn’t give u the ultra wide or telephoto lens but other than that I agree, they both have benefits

I just recently got the Insta360 Flow Pro and it looks like a toy compared to this thing. The Hohem looks like a tank.

The Flow Pro is a good compact option if you want to travel light and don’t need to necessarily add additional accessories. The iSteady M7 is more versatile and gives you the option to build the rig out a bit more, it feels very nice to use as well.
