Mike, I see it as a typical stuffed shirt decision. I'm not a trucker but I see the same incovieninences happening across the board here in Maryland. (Fast food, discount stores, convenience stores, etc.) Wawa excluded, and bobtail is OK at most Wawas

Thanks for your video /notice in relation to this. I'm "retired" off the road... but still running in the mid-western states, only covering three states, primarily. I have over 50 years experience in all lower 48 states, Alaska and all 10 provinces in Canada, plus the Northwest Territories (up to Yellowknife).... and was a "true" Owner Operator (own authority) for nearly 3 decades and have seen drastic changes in many ways, including from what use to be "Real" Truck Stops... to "some" of today's so-called "truck stops" that are really nothing short of glorified convenience stores with enough room to fuel some semis and "some" parking. Pilot/Flying J (on the Pilot side of it) and Loves (Especially Loves) come to mind under this banner.... but, these phony "truck stops" serve what has become - the equally phony "wannabe" steering wheel holders who are trying to pass themselves off as "truck drivers".... it's completely pathetic and a total disgrace to what was once a truly proud profession that was, for Many years.. very highly respected and revered by the general and motoring public. You can "thank" the Fed. Gov't for that, after they deregulated the industry in 1980 and then began their campaign to actively change the public view of truckers by releasing three "anti - trucker" films on tv in fairly rapid succession beginning in the winter of 1988 (or 89, I forget exactly... it's been a while, now)... complete with 1-800 numbers to call, being constantly run across the bottom of the tv screen while telling folks "What" they were seeing (also known as "mass brain washing" of the "sheeple")..... something very similar to "9-11" when they were telling people "What - they were seeing" while repeating that narrative and film footage constantly for months on end.... complete BS, but "they" (the feds, the UN & the US military industrial complex) got the desired results that they were after, in the end. As far as the parking issue in WA. state and your sentiments thereof... I agree with you, and about the Only way(s) to get some real attention to the problem would be for the truckers and trucking industry as a whole, to completely boycott the state.... just One Week, would be More than sufficient to completely bring them "to their knees".... and to the "round table" to discuss the problem. The other way... would be through a Massive class action lawsuit.... however, that would be far less "attention getting" due to the fact that it would get So "Lost" in the political and judicial channels that it probably would wind up never "seeing the light of day".... and if it did, it would probably take Years to manifest in any meaningful way, if at all. The state Boycott "route" while being very effective... will Not take place either, because no one has the "spine" to initiate it, orchestrate it effectively through all the appropriate channels.... and make it happen. One (of many) recently past case in point being the so-called "shut down" that was suppose to take place just this past April (2019)...... never materialized, and not surprised whatsoever... the way they were going about it. The ones who were involved.. should not have been (as far as the organization of it), and the people who should have been... were not, as usual. I do have one suggestion though.... which, 1) "Would" send a definite "message" to the "powers that be" at Pilots headquarters..... and 2) would be Much easier to make it happen..... and that would be to Completely Boycott this new "truck stop" in Ellensburg, WA.... not "just" for a week or so.... but Completely avoid it - permanently. Trucks didn't stop there before it was being built... just keep driving past it, there won't be anyplace for you to park, anyway.... so why bother waste your time doing so, now.... just because it's there?!?! Should be Effortless to boycott them. Good Luck.... PS: I am NOT including Petro Truck Stops and several others in what I said above, the main focus of what I said was towards these "glorified Convenience Stores" posing as "truck stops".... primarily Pilot and Loves, with their "fast food / junk food - "restaurants" . The Flying "hook" (J) Truck Stops "were" on a fairly equal footing as far as these modern day Corporate "truck stops" go.... along with T/A, Petro (which is actually owned by T/A), Roady's, and a few others..... before they ran into financial troubles and were about to file for Chapter 11.... until Pilot bought and bailed them out in 2010. Berkshire-Hathaway (Warren Buffet) now has 38.6% ownership of Pilot since last year (early 2018), and will have 80% ownership in 2023 with current management being retained in Knoxville, TN at Pilot/Flying J headquarters. There is a "reason" for all these "buy outs & mergers".... not "just" in the trucking and support industry thereof, but in almost All sectors of industry, manufacturing, business, electronics, food production, etc, etc, etc.... and in the end, it is Not for the good, nor for the benefit of "you" or I.
