My hair looks amazing, you can't tell I didn't use shampoo. You kind of saved my life and my environment here, thank you and thanks to Indian people as well.

I've been struggling with dermatitis and have been using medicated shampoos most of my life. No matter what I used, my scalp would be itchy by the next day. This is honestly the first time I've felt any relief for my poor scalp. Like you, I am washing my hair once a week (never though would be possible!) and doing the rinse once a month. I have zero greasiness, dandruff or odour during the week either. Thank you so much for this method! I am converting everyone I know :)

Yup we Indians also use chickpea flour as a soap, leaves the skin soft and supple. U can also add raw milk or curd or boiled rice water or rose water as per ur liking instead of water. Also for shampoo we use a tsp of Shikakai, reetha , amla , hibiscus and Fenugreek mixed in plain water , soaked all night and heated for 2 min the next morning and then use it as a shampoo when in room temperature. Let it sit for 5 mins and then wash it off. I ve been doing all this since ages, so does my parents, ancestors and so on. We were non chemical centuries back and still feel responsible towards the world. Natural way is the best way.❤️❤️ Love to all from India ❤️❤️❤️❤️

You can also use hibiscus leaves and guava leaves .Grind them in a mixer adding sufficient amount of water. Another herbal shampoo can be made by grinding a handful of soaked fenugreek seeds and apply just like the gramflour.I am from India and we like to use all these and happy to share these with you. @Crafter frater yes .. absolutely. You can make them directly into powder and soak the powder before using. Or the way we do is to soak the Fenugreek seeds in yoghurt+water mixture overnight and make a paste of them the next day. Either ways are great for using . Hope this helps 🙂

If you're no-poo, besan flour is a great way to get oil out of your hair after your weekly/semi-weekly/monthly oil treatment too. If you want, add an egg. Egg emulsifies oil and boosts the protein. Mix it with fermented rice water for amazing results. And if you REALLY want to stimulate your scalp and make it smell nice, add a tsp or so of cinnamon.

Actually you can use gram flour/chick pea flour+rice flour mixture to wash your body too. It will be gentle on your skin and dont deprive your body of its natural oils. This is the basic you can add any number of ingredients like green gram flour, fullers earth, orange peel powder, neem powder etc. I use all of them together it gives me a big batch of bath powder and results are amazing. You will have fresh looking smooth skin after every use.

Hi, interesting recipe, will try this out. Approx a month now, I have been washing my face with gram flour with few drops of honey. I mix fine gram flour and not so fine/ grainy gram flour together, it cleases my face wonderfully. And after that just wipe my face with ACV toner that I have made. My face skin has improved so much in such a short while. I also use rice water as a toner as well. Works great. Mentioned it if you'd like to try that.

what type of skin do your have? what is your recipe for the rice water toner and the ACV toner. do these get rinsed off after applying?
@jyotis5732
@jyotis5732 4 жыл бұрын
@@heatherweber531 Hi, my skin is a combination skin, T - zone being oily. It's good to test the ACV toner on a small portion to your skin to see if it's not too strong for you. If it's too strong it might give a burning sensation..if so, just dilute it with more water. ACV toner and Rice water are not to be rinsed. I wash my face with gram flour mixed with honey, tap dry and then using soft cleansing pads apply ACV toner, let it dry off and then apply rice water.. let it dry and apply lil cream mixed with olive oil. ACV toner : I make it the simple way, ACV + water. 1.5 tsp of ACV (I use Bragg's Raw - unfiltered with "Mother" written on it). 100 ml filtered water. I keep it in a glass bottle. (Ideal recipe is 1 or 2 tbsp ACV to 150 ml water). Quantity of water and ACV can be adjusted. You don't want it to be strong. Rice water: I prepare 100 ml rice water.. So whenever you are going to cook rice, just wash it nicely and soak it with filtered water for more than half an hour to 1 hour, stir the rice a bit and pour that water to your spray bottle or a small bottle. Always Keep it in the refrigerator. My bottle lasts for 10-15 days. And it's good to keep lesser quantity so that it doesn't go bad. I do both ACV toner + rice water as ACV cleanses very well, removes bacteria and rice water has good nutrients. My skin quality has improved so much, and i don't feel the need to wash my face often also. I hope this suits you. ✨
@jyotis5732
@jyotis5732 4 жыл бұрын
@@heatherweber531 Please note for ACV toner, I mentioned I use "tsp" for myself.. and ideal recipe suggests "tbsp". Just make sure it's not too strong. And test it on a small patch of skin before applying fully.😊✨

ACV is NOT to be used for skin. It is an ASTRINGENT, meaning it dries the skin out and can irritate. That is why its populair who acne, but it is also harmful. Please don't spread information that can actually harm, irritate and damage skin. Someone's face is not like a scalp, vinegar is not for the face, even tea tree oil is safer for acne, and even tea tree is bad for the skin because its irritating! Rice water is fine but has no use for skin, its beneficial for hair. Also everyone should always wash their face 2x a day, you mentioned that you don't feel like you need to wash your skin a lot, but that's a sign of ACV being DRYING. It is an ASTRINGENT. If you are oily, focus on humectants, not creams, oils and astringents. Astringents dry you out, oils are way too heavy, it makes no sense.

Hi, yes we used to use this kind of chick pea pwd on hair which is oiled with coconut oil and left to seep for 1/2 an hour. Amazingly chickpea flour can also remove the oil well. Word of caution... 1. Pls wash thoroughly else the pwd bits can still be stuck to your hair ( this can be shaken off or combed out once the hair is dry) 2. Pls take care to clean the drainage well with enough water as to avoid clogging in the future. 3. This is not for daily shampooing. You can shampoo this way once is 2 days. Rest assured you will hv beautiful, soft, healthy, natural coloured, manageable hair.

I add 1tbsp apple cider vinegar to the 2.5tbsp chickpea flour now with some water, apply it into sectioned hair and let it dry into my hair for 30minutes minimum. Then I wash it with water. This made sure that my hair remains grease-free for a week. I'm completely shampoo free now and it reduced my shower hair fall. I love it!

I absolutely love this recipe, so here's some things I learned for those of you just trying it out!: 1. The flour will sometimes get stuck in your hair, but it'll come out once your hair dries! 2. I've found that in order to get most of it out IN the shower, to rinse it out, brush my hair, and rinse again. 3 (just for the no-poo method in general). I would invest in a boar bristle brush as it helps to distribute your natural sebum (the oil buildup on the scalp) down the hair and keep it moisturized. 4. (Again for the no-poo method in general). I only 'wash' (use this method) about once every week, I've found that anything more than that can make my hair a bit dry. 5. Try to sleep with your hair in a braid as much as possible, as it helps keep your hair tangle free and shiny! I've been using this method for a little over 3 weeks now (and I've been shampoo free for about 3 months) and my hair and health have never been better, the only time my hair is truly 'greasy' is when I'm under a lot of stress or I'm sick. Other than that, I use a very small amount of oil after the shower and my hair is super shiny. Thanks for sharing this method!

I cannot explain that feeling and today again I cleansed my hair. However I had given my hair a hair rinse for that earlier.

I want to share my experience and story. I have very fine thin hair and the crown of my scalp has always hurt dully for the past decade. If I searched around on my scalp any given day I could find tiny water blisters . Fed up with the constant dull pain I decided to try this chickpea flour hairwash to see if it made a difference. It made a big difference! After three weeks of using the chickpea paste [ along with 1 tbl spoon apple cider vinegar/1 tea lemon jce in a quart of warm water as a rinse] I have a healed scalp. No pain, no blisters, and I am watching closely to see if hair starts growing back in thicker. I grind dried chickpeas in my own blender to make the flour. It really cleans the dirt and oil out & the rinse makes my hair super soft. I have heard you can rub a few drops of Argan oil into the tips of your hair for added nourishment as well.

My husband and I are experiencing hairfall due to desalinated water we use in the Middle East. We were pleasantly surprised to see the results when we used it although my 13 yr old son did create a ruckus when I tried to wash his hair 😂. Hope this also helps my husband get rid of dandruff. I too have eczema on my scalp and my sister recently did me a head massage using 3 drops each of lavender and tee trea oil to a tblspoon of olive oil to see if it would help my incessant itching and oh my goodness, I did not itch for a whole 3 days!! It felt wonderful. As soon as the itching comes back I add a drop or 2 of each directly to my scalp and rub and the itchiness stops. Its greatly improved. Lavender essential oil is the only oil I understand, that can be applied directly on the skin but I found I was totally fine with the tea tree essential oil too. All the best!

I do the same thing but with rye flour from my bulk food store. Rye flour also has protein including vitamin B5 - and it has the perfect pH for hair. These methods are similar to using soap nuts as the cleaning is done by the saponins (soap like substances found in the waxy layer on the outside of the soap nut berry or in the case of the rye on the outside of the grain) I wash my hair into a bucket happily supplied by the owner of my bulk store - bulk stores get their nut Butters and such in plastic buckets and giving them another use keeps them out of landfills. I put the bucket into my bathtub and wash over that - it keeps the mucky mess in the bucket and when I'm done I just flush it down the toilet. It's safe for my septic tank and hopefully helps clean my toilet at the same time.. lol. I don't use a vinegar rinse. Firstly I hate the smell of the vinegar but as far as I know this practice of vinegar rinses started with the baking soda and vinegar no poo method. That particular method isn't good for the hair as many who have damaged their hair with it know. The vinegar was necessary to neutralize the alkalinity of the baking soda, but it's very harsh on hair to first fry it with something so alkaline then attempt to neutralize it with acid. I should note that in order to activate the saponins is best to use warm water similar to how you would when using soap nuts directly in the laundry. I'm curious about the Chickpea flour - I'm going to try it myself to compare but thought I would share what I do in case anyone has trouble finding the Chickpea flour (it's also referred to as Besan on many packages in case that helps). Thanks for another great video and for sharing! :-)

I was so thrilled to see this video. I love the zero waste movement but above all I want to see women able to make healthier choices and gain the freedom that comes from being more self sufficient by making their own products. You can use oil to condition your hair. Then use chickpea flour mixed with soap nut water to wash off the oil in the hair. It will make your hair less frizzy. In India we use oil to massage the body and use mixture of chickpea flour, turmeric and milk instead of soap to clean our body. The chickpea flour is rubbed on the body until it dries n falls off this helps as natural hair remover as well.

Towels don't frizz your hair (unless they're full of scratchy synthetic fibres), rubbing your hair esp while it's wet causes frizz & split ends. Instead squeeze & pat the moisture out with your towel, tshirt etc. If you really must rub, ensure you don't go up the hair, only downwards from the scalp; each hair cuticle is covered in thousands of tiny little scales & rubbing upwards causes them to stick up, making your hair appear dull & frizzy. Combing downwards or gently 'brushing' downwards with your towel will help flatten the cuticle & polish it, helping your hair to shine. Best wishes.

Whoopsi... So that will be for next time. Thanks a lot for sharing this recipe. I feel better using chemical-free cosmetics, and shampoo was the last item I didn't have in natural format on my list. Very interesting, I am intrigued! I have tried baking soda in the past, and it was a disaster! I will definitely give this a try! Thank you for the video...

Malorye Stone ... yes, baking soda is extremely alkaline and can be too harsh on the hair( yet it's the main thing you hear people use ) let me know how you get on with the flour. I'm genuinely impressed with the results. X

Congrats on hitting 2K subscribers Niamh! Another great video 😍 I just bought some more shampoo bars from funky soap so will wait and try this shampoo another time - I love the idea of adding some lemon juice to my ACV rinse! I have some jojoba oil - will that work in place of argan oil? Xx

I just found your channel and loving all your videos! I have cut back washing my hair for the last year and I just watched this and decided to give it a try! Really loved the gram flour, it smelled nutty and my hair feels soft. I made a right mess of the rinse which I won't be doing again! I will put it here because it's funny but hopefully no one else is as daft as me...I left pulp in because I didn't have a juicer so just squeezed out some lemons and really struggling to get all the bits out of my hair! Also I think I got some lemon in my eye or it went up into the steam or something because my eyes were all itching and blood shot! So I won't do that again ha ha! Anyway I also want to try your seed hair gel! Thank you!

Another awesome video!! I've been using the curly girl method for nearly a year now so have been using conditioner instead of shampoo but this is even better. The ACV rinse is soooo good! Thanks so much for sharing ❤

I loved washing my hair with rhassoul (clay) until it severely clogged the plumbing in our house! I have a lot of hair and unfortunately need to wash it quite often, so I used about two tablespoons of clay every two days. I am back to "natural" shampoos from Lavera now although I prefer my hair looked with rhassoul. The results with rhassoul seem very similar to the ones you get with chickpea flour. I never experienced any transition period.
