I can't even do a good twist out WITH products 😭😭😭. I love how you're experimenting your hair and getting to know it a bit more. I'd never think to try that.

Oh, you just graduated? Congrats! I definitely like that you are showing an alternative to the curl mania and way we pedestal certain kinds of hair (which is upsetting b/c it means some women always feel as if their natural hair is inferior. Just posted on another social media site that I didn't think that the hair "gods" blessed anyone more than anyone else that we all just got different stuff, and I'm sure I'll get cursed at for that). At any rate, I grew up with natural hair so returning to it wasn't challenging but for people who never had it, it's good for them to see someone who shows that you don't need 50-11 products to style it. I never use gels or holding products, never do twist outs or attempt to hold onto the pattern of braided or twisted hair, and happily let my hair be and it was interesting how it meant ppl found it wild that I'd confidently wear my hair frizzy (and prefer it that way).

I figured you were low to normal a while ago but your tips really helped my high porosity hair so I'm thankful for the help. Seriously, the Aussie Moist line has really revitalized my hair hydration. Thanks for the great uploads.

I cut down on products too. I just washed and conditioned my hair in twist, kept the conditioner in my hair for a little bit as a deep conditioner mixed with another conditioner and twistes my hair with using only two products. Usually to do my hair i would use like 4 products. Before that would work, but now it doesn't anymore so totally only using two products to style my hair and leaving them in twist for like 2-3 weeks has helped alot and i am happy with it :) Thanks for the video and Congratulations on graduating!

I liked what you were saying about using the same products but realizing that they aren't working. I was telling this lady the same thing. Sometimes you have to try new products, but other times it may be your method and not necessarily the products. Like with you finding out that you have normal to low porosity hair instead of high porosity hair. I had to change my method which made a HUGE difference for the health of my hair! I love your videos!! 😊

I make my own hair cream with these ingredients: cocoa butter, mango butter, shea butter, neem oil and olive oil. my hair is so happy all of the time. I only moisturize once a week and I use the trader joes tea tree shampoo and conditioner because its all essential oils in the ingredients. you should check out the green beauty channel

Whitney Chapin Now this sounds like something that will work for me! 🙌🏾👏🏾🤗 I was just researching best oils for hair so I could simplify my routine to just butter and oil. Yup, GBC has lots of great info; just came across it last week. Thanks for your comment, purely confirmation!

where do you live? in florida my twist out turns into a puff within 10 minutes from humidity. I need some type of twisting cream lol but I do agree that less is more

Afua Ansah girl yes!! I live in Miami and it is 10000% humidity all the time. Andddd I'm very active so the heat, the sweat, the humidity all mixed together I absolutely understand. With that being said I use kinky curly curling custard on top of my lco method to kinda seal the style. It's worked so far for me maybe it will help you?

Also I use Shea butter as my oil and it really locks in my style. Let me know if this helps!!

I didn't go natural until I moved to Tampa, the struggle was real lol. I used to use Shea butter in LOC but it left a lot of build up overtime. maybe I'll try it again without extra twisting cream/gel. thanks!
@ohsnapitslexi_7517 жыл бұрын
Interesting. It's never left my hair with any build up but I do have high porosity hair so that could be the problem. My hair is also a think type four texture, so maybe try a lighter oil like olive oil or jojoba. :)

my hair is 4C so I was surprised. maybe I'm low porosity? I dunno I'm still trying to figure that out lol
@violetfields37 жыл бұрын
I am low porosity and I have been for a long time and heat and clarifying shampoos are the key to moisture and length retention. Also just having light and moisturizing products. Limiting silicone usage and using small amounts of protein keep low porosity hair managed. Hope this helps😁😁😁 Also, I am loving the constant video uploads you are my favorite natural hair youtuber❤❤❤❤

100% agree with not wanting my life to revolve around my hair. I see too many videos of 3+ hour wash days then spending at least 30 mins every day to retwist hair and that's just too much for me
@Nuani77 жыл бұрын
luckygirl300 I know what you mean. I was trying to keep up with the KZbin "Joneses" until one day I realized a whole week had gone by and all I did was my hair! 😂 And after 8,000 products, 100 methods, 15,000 twist/braid/Bantu knot outs and $2.5 million my hair was still dry and wiry! 😡🤣😂🤣

You got great results with no product. I love that you did some research & incorporated what you learned to become more familiar with your hair. I am going to try this method out next wash day. You've encouraged me to learn a bit more as well. I always use heat while deep conditioning & my hair loves it. I have low porosity hair. TFS 💜

hi Krista! Great video. Your chanel is growing a lot. I remember when you only had 3K subscribers not too long ago. I have recently gone back to sulphate shampoo (herbal essences hello hydration) once a week. I am a product junkie but have now gone back to the basics. Its been a game changer. I have low porosity 4c! My hair is now fuller and easier to detangle during wash day since starting the sulphate shampoo. There is no breakage either when i use a big tooth comb. I feel like i was deep conditioning dirty hair so my hair was not retaining/absorbing moisture. I was using the deva no poo every 2 weeks for the last 2 years or so:( . My hair has been at the same length for a long time mostly due to breakage at the ends :(

I stoped using products as well, but i noticed my ends were starting to look a little thinn after a month of doing this process... sooo i started to add a quarter size amout of an all natural shea butter to my hair while in the shower and my hair feels like heaven lol and my ends thickened back up.

I figured out the same thing. All the heavy butter products and oils were no good. I *have* to shampoo every week and conditioning with heat is essential. My spritz is half water/half aloe vera. Watery leave in, then light oil. I apply the light oil every few day. My hair was the same way when chemically treated. I could not have mousse, gel, hairspray or my hair just died on my head. My current wash and style routine is no more than 2 hours tops (it is shoulder length stretched) and it is so freeing.
@UrbanLateNights7 жыл бұрын
Hey Krysta, I think your hair (not the scalp) could benefit from a light oil spray (e.g. putting an oil suitable for your hair into a spray bottle for a light spritz). The twist out is nicely defined; but, it looks a little dry. Also, aloe vera juice should be refrigerated to prevent the product from going rancid. Aloe vera juice bottles have "keep refrigerated" printed on the bottle as a reminder to consumers.
@PrettyLittleFro7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tips! The aloe vera i buy is supposed to be used for drinking but since I am not I haven't had an issue with not refrigerating it :)

Your hair will definitely be a lot dryer. If you feel like you need to seal or use a leave-in definitely do! Do what you think is best for YOUR hair. My hair felt super dry the day after I took my twist out but I really felt it needed a break from all the products for a while.

My hair feels the same way. It doesn't have any movement to it. I often feel as if i need to wash my hair all the time to get body in it. I try not to use heavy product but it's hard for me to find good products especially without coconut oil. I've been natural for 4 years now and still can't find my way with products . I'm close but ugh.
