One of Tim Rice's wittiest lyrics! A terribly underrated show.

What a marvelous performance. Great song from an unfortunately under received musical. Saw the show in the West End in 1984 and really enjoyed it. Great cast and incredible energy. The talent behind it, Tim Rice producing witty and amazing lyrics and the opera composer Stephen Oliver flexing his compositional versatility. It has a lot of social commentary, still valid today. The show is one of the most underrated in musical history. As zephyr says in their review, time for a revival. Am in NY now....hey Encores...this would be a very good choice!!!

Gosh - splendid bass-baritone . . . he could do Higgins in "My Fair Lady", the Count in Figaro, and surely it is time for a revival of "Blondel", with AA playing his great ancestor, King John.

Updated lyrics; 1983, when Blondel was originally performed, was a few years before Celine Dion achieved world wide fame.Very clever stuff.

The Stone of Scone was known in Scotland by 840, so was a rhyme that you may very well have needed in 1189, Mr Rice. Perhaps you should have left the original lyric (Oregon?) in place.

I do like Xander, he's great on pointless, his humorous banter with Richard is always great. But I find listening to him sing a bit cringey tbh
