Fun fact: that kind of music did exist for centuries, I mean, fast and aggressive, it's just not something that you would play in a salon during conversations. And I also think that "gay" have got its modern connotation in like 1950s, so in the period portrayed it would mean "I want to take you to a *frivolous* bar" which still means that it's not uptight and "I have something to put in you" would be understood completely perfectly in context ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Link on this: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gay#Shift_to_specifically_homosexual

However, coming across your comment prompted me to try and remember, and i've done it, and i'm glad i did. For the record, i don't know much classical music. The reason i know this tune is Jethro Tull (a band i'm hugely fond of); they did their own version of it, which i recommend checking out (of course after checking the original since it resembles this one played here much more than Jethro Tull's!)
