So just an update from australia- I had to lay off all my crew, so I have a very despondent 14 yr old…I’ve had to deflate the 3.9m takacat and stow it in the truck, just wanting to keep it out of the public/ govt eyes,,and I’ve had to completely remove the 20hp short leg tohatsu as I just can’t afford the fuel,,,30 bucks to fill a 15 litre tank is just absurd, so I have purchased a 54pound thrust water snake and lithium battery- 150amp hour, so that should see me good for a few nautical miles…stay safe people,,,

Position 48'09.0"N 55°57'12.9"E . The shadow is rougly 45° towards the back and starboard which means the direction of the shadow is n or nnw. The owner is on the “list” and they are not replacing crew when the leave. Im sure a few boats will be down here in the Maldives soon. With only one yacht marina (Crossroads) and very limited capacity, a lack of service options and no real shipyards its not looking like a long term viable place for Russian boats to stay. Dubai is probably the most PR savvy of the Arab Oil states. I'm not surprised they're trying to create a perception of distance between themselves and sanctioned Russians.

The UAE are big allies with the west - the USA are literally the reason they are oil rich in the first place and currently the west is looking away from their war in Yemen (forgotten by most but has been running for nearly a decade now) Dubai has horrible PR for it's human rights abuses - no one thinks they are good - they just choose to ignore it. Most people doing business there are looking for the no income tax and running shady businesses. There is also a metric ton of Russian money there as well - also a massive hub for Russian sex trafficking rings. Them doing this was probably done because of pressure from the US.

Excellent ! It is obscene that these people have plundered these countries and spent the money in these yachts - just another form of money laundering. Very interesting - these vessels consume vast quantities of money to crew and maintain. The overall sanctions are cutting this money off and crippling the vessels. I read recently that Roman A. was trying to borrow money from acquaintances to fund his $750k a week payroll for the people that maintain his yachts and residences.
