It was going to be a short tutorial, but sorry, I have decided to don't do cuts in post processing and show you how I do the regular maintenance of my home tanks.
Attention *
This aquarium has 12 months after planting and kept in the same way (maintenance) since day 1!
I'm pretty sure everyone has its own way to proceed and what works for me can vary from region or country. If your tap water isn't good, just use RO water and salts and/or anti chloride to insure your fish don't get harmed. Plants will do a chemical filtration afterwards, but when you do a partial water change, fish can be affected and die.
You must know your water conditions before you replicate all these steps!In case of doubt always let your reposition water to rest, consider also including some water conditioners to prevent any losses.
I hope you find this video useful and entertaining, use these steps at your own risk.
Feel welcome to share, comment and subscribe my channel

Hi Filipe! That´s a AquaClear 50 assuring de filtration of that tank, insn´t it? I have one of those working on a tank similar to that one and i would like to now what media you are using there and how u set it. Thank´s for sharing and for the answer. It´s very gratefull to see how a pro like you sets his tanks and does the maintenance in his home. That´s priceless. PS: Forget to say how nice that thank is! PS2: My bad. U show it all and answer to all my questions in the video! Ty. Boas Filipe! Obrigado.

The only caveat Felipe for newbys is not to replace 100% of the floss. In a tank like that,it's both filter and bio media...ammonia and nitrites might shoot up in a tank with a few more fish than what you have. I wash and reuse it..until it JUST STARTS to get worn looking,then I replace 50% or more with brand new out of the bag AQUARIUM floss (Aquarel brand) since its much more springy then polyester sold for pillows and what have you. It does not pack down in a normal of amount of fish kept in an aquarium.
@FAAOAquascaping
@FAAOAquascaping 4 жыл бұрын
In a tank like that where you use 100% clay soil you don't need to be so worried about the filter... Soil is good for bacteria and I can keep my fish healthy and tank balanced with just a circulation pump, no filter. In such small filter I replace the filter floss every time. No need to be cleaning such thing when a bag of it last for a few years 😉

Excelente video Filipe Oliveira!
@FAAOAquascaping
@FAAOAquascaping 5 жыл бұрын

It's all about the balance between light and CO2. I have a 90x60x45h with 2x Twinstar 900SA with one at 100% for 10h and other at 75% in 12h day/light. 4 weeks, almost none fertilization, just dosed 2x or 3x Potassium. However I have used a lot of root tabs in the soil, that will reduce a lot of liquid fertilization.

That makes a lot sense since minimal liquid fertz are free in water while plants absorb better from roots in substrate. I followed you after watching Green Aqua channel, your tips are clear, confident & humorous! Keep making them...thank you!

Haha please try because you can reach out to the world by doing it!! One question, you said it's about the light and co2 balance. I have a 100x50x50cm tank so I should try to push the co2 to highest possible before stressing my nano fishes? because you set the light at 100% already so you can only adjust co2 or fertilizers.
@FAAOAquascaping
@FAAOAquascaping 5 жыл бұрын
@@MySupra86 sometimes is not about the quantity of CO2 but how it is dispersed in the tank. You need to find out if the CO2 reaches the entire tank. A good flow without being too much is the key. Too much CO2 can be an issue too. Any new setup has that challenge and more experience you get, more easy will be to identify what is wrong. My 240L has the same CO2 from the very beginning and I had a few issues in the start, but just placing a surface skimmer working 15min per hour just solved the problem. Try to increase a bit your CO2 and see how the plants react, any change needs at least 1 week to see if has improved.

Do you recommend to add tap water conditioner in the tank after filling it up with this hose system? The water here in Canada is very hard, around 150-160ppm? Is it ok to add conditioner after, even if the fish are exposed for a little while. As I want to make my job easier by using this hose method instead of conditioner in a bucket and pouring. Not sure if you know other hobbyist who add conditioner after? Cheers!

Add it during the process and move the water with your hands. For example, if you need to add 20ml, just pour 5ml, then more 5....and always move a bit the water with your hands to mix it up a bit. I know a lot of guys that add reverse osmosis water in the tank and later they add the salts. So in theory, it's almost the same.

Qual é a função do skimmer?

Any tips? @FAAOAquascaping 5 жыл бұрын
@@warman bem...

@FAAOAquascaping
@FAAOAquascaping 5 жыл бұрын
