I want to see it down and you tie it up. That is quite important as a diy

Since there are absolutely no instructions whatsoever, and since it's a no-sew window shade, I guess what he wants us to do is simply take a photo of his masterpiece and glue the photo to the window. What a joke!

this is like those how-to-draw tutorials where the first step is a circle and the second step is a fully drawn cat

I think he mounted a board to the wall with brackets and stapled fabric to it. Now he is showing how to tie it up. I would buy iron on tape and iron a rod pocket and a hem and use a curtain rod, myself, but his method works.

Also, if you use satin ribbon for your ties, it might be a good idea to heat seal the ends or use some kind of fabric glue to keep the ribbon from unraveling.

He basically ran the ribbon around the whole outside and tied it? Seems pretty cut and dry to me. But I don’t want to use that shiny slick ribbon. Seems you could just bump it and it would come untied. I’m making some today, and going to use the same material from my curtain by just buying an extra panel that matches my picture window curtains. That way they can be customized but matching. But I’m also hanging a paper shade for privacy when I want my homemade shade to be pulled for fullness and prettiness.

Also I would not do the wood price I have saw in most tutorials. I’m using the existing pocket on my store bought panel. Hope this helps y’all:-) God bless. Also about the shiner ribbon, I’m not crazy about it. You could use the ribbed ribbon for texture, but I just want it all uniform and matching. Just my opinion. I want a more professional simple look.

More like how to cut off the end of your ribbons AFTER you make your tie up shade,!

There are more actual how-to instructions in a couple of the comments below than there are in this so-called diy video.

Cute, but also very easy to sew, and, if you already have a machine and thread, you might as well save your money by sewing rather than using hemming tape. Also, you could use some cute decorative stitches (you know, one of the 100 or so you were so excited about when you bought your machine but rarely have a chance to use) to attach the ribbons! Also, I see no reason why you can't hang something like this on a tension rod. (Just make sure you fold over the top and sew!.)
