No Shield? No Fortifications? No Problem! - Master Anchor on Canals - Gears 5 Horde Daily 7-20-2021

This daily modifier set comes around a good bit and we've been trying to find a few different ways of taking it down. Last time, I was a Marksman (see Marksman video on Dam!) and, while that went incredibly well, I remember having difficulties with ammo supply among other things.
This time around, I took a look at going Anchor. Biggest reason being that the Anchor is SUPER SELF-RELIANT. If you level your Ammo Regen perk to level 6 or 7, you're basically covered on Boltok ammo unless you're trying to machine-gun it.
Then, considering the modifers involve having 1000% increased cooldown time, I wanted to try going independent of the shield. With 1000% power drain and 1000% increased cooldown time, BUT having Instant Reload, I just picked as many cards as I could to be friendly with the boltok and it went incredibly well! The bleeding never stops, you combine that with the damage from bullet chain and you do a LOT of damage.
Given I died from a quick fluke moment on Wave 8, this went too well to not post. Tried running it again but then that one didn't go as well so here we are!

14:05 just a heads up. More crit damage does not in fact mean more bleed damage. Sadly bleed damage does not scale with critical hits. Tested with many friendly peeps in the discord. Although it still means more damage in general so hell yea! Great run btw. Was fun to watch :)

Cherry don't you think that having both boltok bandolier and maxing ammo regeneration is unnecessary? I mean, usually when I play anchor with boltok bandolier I use to "develop" (I don't know if is the right term in english, if not I'm sorry) ammo regen to 4th or 5th level, and is definitely enough in order to having always 77 bullets at the starting of each wave. You're right. In most situations it's counter intuitive as soon as you get the ammo regen up. In this situation, since I didn't use my shield for the super long cooldown, I picked every card that wasn't focused on the shield, venom, or that friendly fire. So it ended up being the bandolier out of a lack of options lol Given, it did help a few times in the early waves but that's about it

14:53 That death was just unfortunate timing. Snatcher downed you as you were stuck with the torque. The wave and the match went well anyways so you're good.

Yeah I'm not one to put up matches with deaths but like...that was some bad luck in an otherwise solid, solid run so I had to keep it. And then we tried running it again for other people to get the daily done and it didn't go as well lol

How are you not having to reload and keep active reloaded bullets is this a certain card setup? Anchor is probably my favorite class. Love your videos keep up the awesome work

It's a modifier that comes around every once in a while for dailies called "Instant Reload" Makes the infinite damage more infinite on the Anchor :D

Question... it's not really important... and doesn't matter...or change anything.... but during down time between waves or selecting a class or whatever a while back I kinda started to put all the gears 5 horde classes into the categories of gears of war 4 horde classes.... infiltrator is a scout...robotics expert is an engi... etc... with that being said... would you say the anchor is a sniper class??....I mean...I know it revolves around the Boltok (my favorite gun in the franchise BTW)... but it's clearly a headshot focused class as well... kinda like a close range sniper if you will.... My personal opinion: Scout is closest to Infiltrator Sniper is closest to Marksman Heavy is closest to Demolitions or Gunner depending on cards Soldier is closest to Slugger or Veteran, depending on cards Engineer is closest to Mechanic. At least I'm thinking of like the Build Costs and stuff like that lol

@@CherryQuenchGears I agree... those are the 100% by the numbers forms of those classes.... but with soooooo many classes... they have a lot of gray areas... what do you call the nomad.... is it a sniper..... could be....or... it could be a scout... is the brawler a soldier or a scout ... and like you said... slugger is a soldier....orrrr.... you could play THAT class as a sniper... albeit one that's really REALLY proficient with grenades lol... it's just something my nerdy gears brain kicks around in my head every now and then....I really REALLY hope they keep this class system just like this in Gears 6... thanks for the feedback man... love the content and I love the fact that you actually respond to comments lol.... take care man 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

Have you ever gotten Instantly downed because an enemy spawned on the exact spot you where at? Sometimes snatchers will spawn right next to your box aswell...

The most recent was a carrier that got me on Roulette. A very quiet, very stealthy carrier spawned behind us on Dam lol

One time on master horde frenzy on Blood Drive I was running up the stairs to the weapons locker to switch out my torque bow, right next to the fabricator and just as wave 50 started a Swarmak spawned right in front of me and killed me with his machine guns. Yeah I guess anything goes spawnwise on Master difficulty. You aren't safe anywhere.

What does taunting actually do? I thought it just caused enemies to attack you

Yep that's basically it, a taunt forces enemies to look and fire toward you which can be great for distracting. That being said, the taunts of Gears aren't as strong as the ones in a game like Smite. It sure wouldn't hurt if they made it so the enemy was forced to reload or something with it lol
