Hey Josh D, Gas in the oil normally means that the carb float is leaking by, the gas is flooding the carb, going into the engine, where it works its way by the piston rings into the oil.... I tend to turn off the gas for all my stuff and let the engines run until the carb is empty.... Frequently, I find that the fuel shut off valves leak by also and one can end up with the same problem... A long path to the answer, sorry.... Yes, a carb rebuild, using a kit with a fresh float needle valve is the place to start, I would also make sure there is a fuel filter, so nothing gets down into that valve seat to all fuel to flow, I would also check the fuel tank turn off valve, replace if necessary, and also run the carbs out of fuel unless the ATV or motorcycle is going to be used right away.... Hey Mac, If one wants to use a 12VDC, one has to use a DC cdi... To power an AC cdi a stator coil needs to be used as power... I may try using a 25 VAC source as an experiment, but, as of now, I have not tried it.... Thanks for asking, watching, and commenting, Good Luck!!

I used to watch politics, now, it just gives me a head ache, makes me want to buy my own mountain top somewhere surrounded by self sufficient folks who build things.... My bike has 5 extra wires coming from the same place as the stator. they are not individual wires but all 5 are connected side by side like a kit kat and all white...very strange

Hey Paul!!!! In theory, yes, if there is a stator for ignition, the Pit Bike hack would work, the 12Volt GY6 CDI/matched spark coil hack would work on anything with a pulse generator, as would the the Casoli 12Volt GY6 CDI/matched upgrade. Having said that, I have used the 12V hacks on Hondas, China quads, China pit bikes, and a Yamaha G6 golf cart motor... Personally, if I was trying to hack a Polaris, I would use the 12Volt Casoli GY6/matched spark coil hack and call it an ignition upgrade.... Harvey Spooner well it has a pullstart and a push Button but no cdi box just a regulator it has a yellow~red wire and a green that comes off the push button, then the pull start ignition coil has green,and black and a red wire where do they go to the sylinoid please help, ur are the man.

hi harvey, i think my stator is broken because im getting a reading of 117 ohms and when i crank the engine over im getting 12-13 volts. do u know what voltage u should be getting?

Hey Marien, I'm going to drag a China quad out of the weeds over the next few days, I'll go thru all the readings on that, stay tuned..... Given the readings U provided, I think Ur stator maybe ok, I would expect it to be lower if shorted and given that it is hard to see the peak voltage, (should be around 45v I think but, it is hard to capture that with an ordinary DVM.... Did U check everything else, I rarely have a stator go bad.... Thanks for asking, watching, and commenting!!!

Harvey Spooner well the previous owner hacked up the wiring loom so i think he put the battery direct to the stator and blew it. i have checked the cdi and tried another one, still didnt work, the trigger was around 150 ohms and gave around 0.2 volts

Hey Marien, Sounds like he may have taken out the cdi, stator and pulse generator, not a bad idea to replace the wire harness also, if U can find something like this, www.ebay.com/itm/CDI-50-70-90-110CC-Wire-Harness-Assembly-Wiring-Set-ATV-Electric-Quad-Coolster/262902310138?epid=692498679&hash=item3d3632e4fa:g:VZ4AAOSwWxNYz7b4&vxp=mtr .... Hey Road Fun, For the China stuff, I tend to only be after functionality, I want to see if it will start, run, and shift thru its gears. I have a portable, self contained, 12VDC CDI box for that, if I want to restore the electronics, I tend to hack a $12 pit bike ignition, it provides me with everything including the left handle bar switches.
