No speedometer, no speeding? Are cyclists using ignorance as an excuse?

The biggest problem with cyclists is the cycling lobby groups, they have a large influence on local government and get a lot of stupid ideas passed through to their advantage creating a worse environment for the rest of us. CAMCYCLE is a prime example of this and the cycling routes that have been and are still being introduced in Cambridge.

my mate got done for speeding on a RAF camp [very strong wind behind him] the punishment was the vehicle was banned from camp for a week , no one checked the frame number on his way into work

Wow Nat, cycling in a park here in Aus must be done via a separated pavement with bollards between foot traffic & renegade cyclists. They even have dedicated cycling & electric scooter lanes on major roads. Yeah, occasionally shit happens but it's usually the cyclists come off second best. No matter how much Lycra one wears. My backside has gone soft.

Speeding cyclists are a terrible problem that need looking into. Last week I was driving on a unrestricted road at about 55mph and a lad about 14 undertook me on his chopper. You ain't the only one that has read the vizz Nat lol All the best

Reason cyclists cannot be done for speeding is that they are not classed as vehicles and that's it, even putting up max speed limits in parks aimed at cyclists means nothing, if a cyclist ended up in court for speeding the judge would have no option but to throw the case out, same goes for electric wheelchairs they can't be done for speeding because they are not classed as a vehicle. Your right about motorbike speedos Nat you don't need one to pass the MOT but you run a good chance of getting caught speeding if you don't have one and not having one won't get you out of a speeding ticket 😂

Its kind of a non issue right? I mean how many cyclists are capable of doing 20mph and above speeds in general? Most of the bikes doing those speeds are going to be illegal Ebikes which I'm sure most have a speedo. It feels like a bait article to wind people up under the guise of something serious. To be fair if I saw the notification for it pop up id be in the comment section to watch people have a melt down.
