In 2020, I was doing a clothing ban. I'm also not online shopping. But this inspired to do a no/low spend year in regards to eating out and coffee! Fingers crossed! I also ended up having to get a root canal and it cost SO much, even with dental insurance. It was really a wake up call to get my finances under control. Fingers crossed I can do this!

It's hard-- you'll do great! I would reccomend that "unless I absolutely need it" as an exception got me in trouble. I had to change my rule last year and say to myself -- you need to find a way to make the extra money for it or find it for free (I'm talking about clothes) lol

I know it's going to be so challenging 🙈 Great advice! I think the best thing for me is that I announced this publically so that will hold me accountable lol

I can't wait to see your next video! I wonder if I can do no spend years...? I am currently trying to pay my mortgage off and doing grocery challenges ($10pw extreme frugalling). It is hard but amazing how much control it makes you feel you have.

I find it so crazy that some people pay so, so much for rent. I pay about 600 EUR for my room in a shared flat and I find it is already way too much (it includes rent, utilities, internet). Then add 150 for food, 15 for the prepaid phone, 50 for transport, then I have some insurances and some other stuff. I get to about 1000. Fortunately, I am quite low maintenance and have no animal companions/kids, so the 1K left is used to save and spend. Still I've noticed that I spend more than I should on stuff I don't need altho I am already quite minimalistic so a no spend 3 months would be cool to see what happens. Thanks for your tips.

I'm watching a lot of no spend channels/challenges for 2020. I follow a channel called The Silver Report Uncut and his latest video describes pretty much everything you're going through, on how millenials and gen Z have almost the same credit score but millenials do have an average of $5000 ish in various types of debt. People like you, getting your budget under control and trying to find ways to earn more money are going to be the changemankers that shift the economy towards what people actually need. So much is going on behind the scenes with banks and countries and wallstreet to keep people spending on easy credit, but people like you are bucking the trend and refusing the illusion by making yourself live in reality.

I'll have to check him out! And yes! I'm glad I realized this is all a trap/game that I definitely don't want to be a part of.

Love how you planned this and how you’re looking at this whole challenge. And also love that I can relate to lots of things here too (doing a low spend year, expensive rent, vegan, want to increase my income etc). Definitely following ❤️ Did you already think of what level of detail you want to share on your channel? I’m thinking of starting a channel too (for accountability) but I’m a bit stuck because... how much so I say? 😅

Thank you!! And I'm pretty open about everything, I'm definitely going to show my exact budget but haven't decided if I want to share my exact income for my full time job. Honestly I probably will though because I think it will help people. You could still start one and share bits and pieces of your finances!

Why do so many people bother with credit cards? I've never had or really wanted one, but just pay in cash with debit card or paypal. I have sometimes payed by cheque as well, but fewer places in the UK are accepting cheque now.

Just found your channel, try to find a less expensive place to live, if you save at the grocery store you will spend extra at the doctors office and drugstore, best wishes

I chose to live where I am currently for multiple reasons (location, safety), but I'm definitely looking into other places to live and it's something to consider. And yes you're so right I love that! Luckily on a vegan diet eating mostly whole foods is super affordable! ❤️
