I went 2-1 on my first, as it was a traditional draft, fighting the same opponent twice who had an absolutely wild 5-color all-the-bombs deck and drew the bombs and the mana every game. Right now 4-0 on my first Premiere Draft, but can't finish cause a man's gotta work : (

Don't sleep on Gila Courser, it's a monster in an aggressive deck. 3 mana for 4 power, saddle 1 is easy, and you can play the card until the end of your next turn. It's a lot of value.

The main thing I have noticed so far, and you can see this in your games too, is you really need hard removal or cards that do a lot more than two or three damage instance to take out the big threats. If you can make sure your opponent doesn’t have any bombs on the board then the game becomes grinding,that seems to be the main way my decks are losing games.

Glad to see your more open to just drafting for fun! Hopefully OTJ is a lot different from MKM where you can draft for funsies/ memes and still have a good time without getting beat down early. nah, i think ur pretty in the minority thinking this "screws" limited. i think it makes limited way WAAAAY more exiting to play. its just so much more fun and because all the uncommon and common got so much better this set, its all fine

I 100% agree its stupid this many rares around. It lowers the skill level and raises the luck factor. But that’s what wizards wants. They want to dumb the game down and make the games faster through no brain bombs. It’s all about squeezing extra dollars every day. It’s just the unfortunate reality. I would love to go back to one rare for drafting. It’s so much better. You see some of the decks with just 2-3 bomb rares in a row it’s just stupid.

@@DaxRaider no it doesnt. It makes it way worse. it just makes it less skill and more luck, which really sucks. Makes it way less fun to play. Pretty sure more people would agree with this than you think that are serious players, they only did this for greed because it makes games faster and lowers the IQ needed to play

I would definitely take 3 for 1 card instead of Explosive derailment and on-color desert instead of Blazing salvo, there is too much removal in this set.

I actually suspect this format is worse than MaKM. Green seems very strong and it kind of seems like, due to the high power level of the rares, the player who can cram as many rares/mythics as possible into their deck tends to win. It felt like MaKM had a lot fewer cards that won on the spot and even low power decks could win if you identify your color identity early and draft reasonably. It's obviously very early to be making broad judgements but this is just what it seems like to me currently. Personally I was quite fond of the MaKM drafts.

Green does have some dope shit but had three draft tokens since i didnt play for a while and did three drafts today and went 5+ on all three using the LotR draft strategie of if its Grixis colors its bound to be good. I did splash green in my U/R deck though because I pulled the OG Oko and thought might as well. Had a couple games where that was dropped turn three and a snap concede followed.

@@ryantice1186 What/how many rares and mythics did you end up drafting? My current theory is that this format is mostly based on who slams the most bombs, which can probably be said of most limited formats tbf but maybe moreso this one.

Completely agree, format is hella bomby. My best run was 6W using G/W Mounts of all decks. First picked the 2 mana rare horse. Had the trojan horse rare. a dust animus that I played maybe twice lol. But mostly just 3-6 mana mounts, the vigilant 4/4 & the 4/7 that pumps the team, and the 4/2 that gives the team trample .... and 4 mana dorks ... No idea why this was my best deck lmao. Ima stick w/ it but it feels like bombs & removal are key to victory

@@Baldthazar let’s see that U/R deck I had like 6-8 rares/mythics in my deck because apparently no one wanted U/R. Had the elemental horse legendary(side note, that fucker is cracked with any army in a can etbs), the modal Counterspell/draw, Archmage charm, that XR removal spell where overkill damage is converted to treasures, OG Oko, that flash Sphinx, the outlaw that gives outlaws haste and makes two 1/1s, and that big score land that enters tapped and becomes color of your choice. Having typed that out feel like that was just lucky as all hell.
