I would suggest keeping the 4.3 V-6, rebuilding & repairing it, & using it to replace the 2.8 L V-6 in the 1993 Chevy S-10 2WD with the 5-speed. Anyway. I can't wait to see this project finished.
@saabkyle044 жыл бұрын
Thanks Liam! I have some folks interested in the engine and trans, if I don't sell it, that's a good idea, however the 5-speed won't work. It's a different bellhousing. I'd need a different trans unless I converted it to an automatic.
@ItsDaJax4 жыл бұрын
The 2.8 came with a standard Tremec T5. Too weak for a 350. Hell 2.3 and 5.0 mustangs would kill those 3rd gear sychros in them. That's why the 3rd gen 350 camaros were auto only and only the iron duke and 305 got the T5. Which is the bellhousing he would need, and source the slightly stronger World Class T5. The wieght of the truck and 350 would kill it, though.

@saabkyle044 жыл бұрын
Yeah they are, but that's what I wanted to do so no I had never considered that lol. The whole point of the project is to keep things simple.
@ItsDaJax4 жыл бұрын
I'd repaint it red with a flat black hood, musclecar style. Maybe do the underside of the cab with urathane paint or bedliner and the frame with urathane paint, since it's a plastic based paint, it oughta last a while. ditch whatever chrome. I think 2.5 and 2.8 s series has black bumpers. I always wanted to put a Bravada grille on one, but I suspect yours is a pre91 model with the 3 piece grille. Electric fans, sealed beam halogen conversion with relay mod, up size the battery cables and alternator wires. Relay mod is easy to to; it takes the load off the headlight switch by running power to the headlights from the battery through the relays, leaving the switch as just a switch. Rear disc conversion, which I think you can get from a v6 4th gen camaro. If I remember correctly; they use the 7.5 axle like these do. And you gotta get some 5spoke wheels. I miss my 91 s10 blazer 4door. I had a whole notebook of ideas for it. I even thought about a RHD conversion since pre-08 post office route trucks are also S-series. But I was 16 and had seen 2fast2furious lmao. 08+ are Explorer based. You might be able to find some factory stuff from other s-series vehicles which includes the Astro/Safari. And pretty much any rwd(and some fwd) GM vehicles will wheel swap. You could throw Monte SS wheels on it, IROC camaro wheels(with spacers for the front) on it, I think Bonneville SSEI and Comp-G wheels fit.

If he would have kept it TBI then it was basically Plug N Play, All the 4.3L stuff would have worked on the 350 TBI, Only thing he would have to buy is Headers & Mounts, The Fuel system is the same, A 4.3L is basically the same thing as a 5.7L (350) just with 2 less Cylinders. You are correct, all I need to do is eliminate the sensors/plugs that won't be used and clean things up, the rest will work fine.

Hey man! I've never heard of anyone doing a 1 piece swap. I wasn't sure that was a thing, if it were even possible due to the wheelbase. If you have any information on it, please send it to my email so I can be sure to check it out! SK04Kyle@Gmail.com. Thanks!!

I might have missed it but what transmission do you plan on using?
@saabkyle044 жыл бұрын
A built-up 700R4 from TCI. I considered using the 700R4 that came in the truck but apparently the internals are different enough from one that would have been behind a 350 so it probably wouldn't last very long.
@TheSDB134 жыл бұрын
Ah! Nice! I was expecting the stock trans wouldn't survive a 350 XD
@s10_4_life64 жыл бұрын
@@saabkyle04 Yeah it would, The 350 doesn't have much more power than the 4.3L, The 4.3L TBI is around 155 HP & the 5.7L TBI is like 185-200 HP, It would last as long as ur not out running the Dog crap out of it and Racing everyday with it, If you are just Daily Driving it, then it would be fine...... I'd say the only difference between the Transmission from the 4.3 & the 5.7 is 1st gear, At least that's how it is between the NV3500 & NV4500 5 Speed Transmissions ( NV3500 is behind the 4.3L & The NV4500 comes behind the 5.7L ), 1st Gear is different bc of the more Torque I believe it was, I can't really remember, But I do remember reading that 1st Gear was different....
