Hi Tochi can you do a video on people who is on tier 2 visa benefits when it comes to government funds. Let’s say someone who is on tier 2 visa becomes homeless and jobless what type of benefits is allowed to them. I have a friend going through this in the UK home office is saying that persons on tier 2 visa is not allowed to get assistance after paying years of tax etc.

If she on a Tier 2 visa. She is not entitled to any form of public funds. It is stated on her BRP. If she decides to apply, it might be approved,but her indefinite leave to remain would be refused. Because the Home office will do their checks, if she has breach any of the visa rules.

Hi Tochi, awesome video! About the excessive absence from the UK, how is it getting tracked to be in the UK for at least 180 days any give years? Is it having an apartment in the UK? Earning money in the UK? Being registered as tax payer in the UK? Or is it really just to physically be in the UK as a person, meaning flying in / out is the criteria which counts?

If I should hazard a guess, I think each time you travel into or out of the UK, you're making a border crossing of which your passport has to be stamped by border control during your entry and exit. So records are always kept each time you enter or leave the UK. Whenever you've applied for the ILR, all that the Home Office needs to do is to pull your entry and exit records to calculate how long in total that you spent any time you travelled outside the UK.

There are some benefits or allowances that people get and they don’t pay for prescriptions.. 3 months ago my husband got his prescription and didn’t pay but we got a letter from NHS a month ago indicating that he did not pay and he should have paid as he does not qualify for any of the benefits listed. Just talk to your GP about it.

It was ordinarily limited to 20 hours, but this limit has been removed temporarily to be reviewed in August. The assumption is that you get work visa because you are highly qualified, has a big salary 26k so why should you put your child on free meals to compete with children from poor families of parents earning £7400 per year?. Kudos to you my sister. @@adebodunadepitanmathew9788 Getting a council tax discount (as opposed to council tax benefit or council tax reduction) is not a recourse to public funds but going by the initial point of discourse the lady mentioned she requested for a discount, discount are available if the house is considered to be single occupancy but if its a not perceived that way and the individual is thinking it because am entitled to it because I am single and i live alone.
