Axis and Allies PC 1998 is still my favorite PC version and I own the three most common PC versions of Axis and Allies. Just like RISK The Game of Global Domination from 1996, it seems the mid/late 90s digital board games just have style to them that make them amazing.

I think I actually played that version, though I couldn't really remmeber what the differences where.

@@chimochills For one thing, it's based on the old school version of the game so there are far less territories on the map. The game saw a few revisions in the post 90s period. Secondly, it went for a more lets say authentic feel, kind of feels like you're playing on the boardgame not a PC more. My favorite part about it though was the customization. They also allowed you to change a lot of the game rules, and even edit stats of units. For example I would make German tanks have the same power when on offense/defense but made them more expensive to buy. Russian tanks I made them cheaper but also made them 2 atk and 2 def. Gave American bombers a small defense buff at more production cost, basically attacking American bombers with fighters would result in more fighters lost than normal engaging them, even if the bombers still get slaughtered. Japanese I gave them terrible infantry with a 1 atk/1 def but the most powerful yet expensive battleships, and longest range fighter planes (zeros were pretty long range). Basically I loved that version of Axis & Allies as I could tweak stuff to be more historical in many ways.

i dont play A&A, but around 1:17:00 in all he had in south east aisa was 3 units... how come people do not push into indochina and come up for pressure on another front with japan?

He could have, true. The opponent had only one transport that could hit India along bombardments and planes, so that might have been covered, thus a move into Burma with more troops that could sustain an attack of 3 plus planes plus bombards might have been a good way to pressure Japan. Still, when an Allied player goes for this strategy he must know that he will not be able to send any UK troops towards USSR, and that might cost him Moscow some rounds down the way. So, if Moscos is in a possible danger, it is better to send west than east, as Moscow is crucial while pressure in SE Asia is just a hindrance.

You have to pick and choose your fights and positioning after, but honestly, I spot errors in my play all the time. But I won't change my style of recording/playing. It needs to be organic and in the moment.

@chimochills my question was for general strategy mostly. Watched a couple other games and saw no one push towards China from the south. I'm guessing it's too slow to work into most straegies
