You might be able to use a an or metal canister that was appropriate size to slide over the plastic hopper to prevent squirrel gnawing through it

It would seem that you could easily do just that if you had a redundant system. The water is a no brainer and with the feeders if your power goes out, the trigger bucket would keep them going.

Thanks Chad, and thanks for the reminder to enjoy the telescope. It is very cool for looking at the moon and planets within it's reach from the back deck. I do not use it enough.

Ha! Ha! Ha! It is a constant battle too keep the critters from feed and chickens. Sometimes I win and sometimes they win. The chickens never win. Either I eat them or something else does.

I am amazed that I have every one still alive after several months. But I was preparing for the onslaught of war when building this:-) It a little fortress but I am still a little nervous.
