perfect place for sharkbite fittings. I hate using them, but have used them on well tanks and other solid/tightly plumbed items, including 1" pvc to copper/pex sharkbite, talk about hard fittings to find locally! I wanted to touch the old probably brittle pvc as little as possible and not have to worry about cement set times. second option was run 100 feet of new poly or pex pipe across the basement, which was half finished and everything painted, including the pvc pipe. using three shark bite fittings there saved hours to multiple days of labor, the customer liked the cheaper bill, but I still hate them. 🙃

It's funny that you post this one, I just had to replace my tank Saturday!! It had gotten water logged!! As a kid, we had a cistern and a steel tank, it would get water logged and I'd have to get down in the pit, and use a hand tire pump to put air in the tank!! Don't miss those days!! At least this tank lasted about 30 years!! Hope this new one will last at least half that!! Thanks for taking the time to record, edit and to post!! Oh yes, a well organized service truck is key to Great service work!! (Did electrical service work for years, liked to have as much on my truck as I could!!)

Hey bud I got a problem with a property I have the pump went out. It's not pump in the ground that is working filling the 5500 gallon tank. Anyways so I took the pump off and replace it with a pool pump on it. Cause it's all I had and can afford it the moment , so it's all hooked up and it comes on . My questions is does a pool pump put enough pressure out to give it enough pressure to shut the switch to off cause it stays running and won't shut off unless click the breaker . Pain in the but but I can deal with the wife is not happening . When I click it off with the switch by pushing up on the bottom where the screw adjustment is but when I do it seems as if it is loosing pressure fast . Is it the pressure from the pump or what . Please help thanks Pete

I can tell you are a good plumber for a young man! I would recommend some good knee pads you like or some kind of kneeling pad, i tore my cartilage in my knee when I was young and had to have 2 surgeries and the Dr. told me to permanently avoid work that entailed squatting, kneeling or deep knee bends. So my life took a very quick down turn for the worse. Also my question for you is i have a main waterline from the pressure tank to the house that is prone to quick freezing. Even when I had the water running a little bit from both sinks, and had 2 heat lamps in a very small well house, what can I do to keep it from refreezing once it thaws? I do have water from the spiccet by the pressure tank, so I think the well and pressure tank are fine. The wire contacts are not locked and I get good pressure with a tire gauge from the top of the pressure tank and no water spraying out of it. I subscribed to your channel and gave you a like. If you would please let me know? Thanks

The home I bought has the well buried under my driveway. The well pump wire (red, black, and yellow) comes into the basement then to a box. In this box the well pump wire connects tow romex 12/2 wire…the black is unconnected, the yellow connects to the 12/2 white, and the red wire connects to the 12/2 black. From there the wires run to the pressure tank then to a fuse box. From the fuse box an old round paper looking wire runs to a breaker on the panel box. 1. Should I remove the fuse box since it’s protected by a breaker? 2. Should I have the 12/2 wire and old wire to the panel box upgraded to 10/2? Thanks for your helpful videos and feedback!

So I spent all night last night installing a new pressure tank. I moved from the well to under the house. This is the 3rd tank in a few short years. My well goes down 50 feet and water at 25 feet and the pump is at around 30 feet. Then it comes up in to the pit then there were blocks and some bricks that the tank and pressure switch sat on. I replaced all the fittings and cleaned it up when I first bought the house. The bottom busted off the bottom of the tank. I chauked it up as it was old when it was not very old. It had just sat unused for several years. So I replaced it with a 20 gallon pressure tank and installed brand new water line in to the house when I had other work done. I was going out for a walk and passed by the pit to hear water rushing in it. We still had water and it was working just fine and who knows how long it was running. It had busted off the bottom of the tank as well. No rust. Looks like it was metal fatigue. My best guess is when the well kicks on it has such a violet jerk that it caused it to fail. So I moved it to under the house where it is over 100 less feet away and 75 of it is underground. There should not be any more movement from the tank in this new location. Do you think that was the problem or do you think it was just a bad tank?

Very well made video, learned about proper cut in and cut out pressure in relation with pressure tank pressure, but i do have a question. Does improper cut in/out pressure cause bladder in pressure tank to fail ? Disclaimer, as much as i would like to hire you, im in asia so its impossible, and here we dont really have a licensed pump mechanic or plumber, most installer just have pressure switches at factory setting, situation is so bad that i just choose to do it myself from learning on youtube where the pros shows how things are supposed to be done. So heres the situation, Over the years ive had multiple bladder failure, before we go further, our utility dont provide pressurized water, so the water supply have to be pumped into a holding tank before then pumped again to be distributed all around the house, a few days ago i found that my pessure switch is by default set to 20/40 while the gas pressure of the membrane tank is 28.5psi, i just set it to 30/50, cant help but wonder if that 20/40 have something to do with the bladder failures or is it just bad quality, thanks in advance

Do you write on a new tank or pressure switch the date of installation, pressure in the tank and/or the kick on/kick off setting for the switch? I am not a plumber, but I have done this for repairs at my property or when helping someone replace a tank or switch. i think it can help in future with diagnosing a problem even though pressure setting is inside cover of the switch.

Long story short, I'm an HVAC Tech, not a plumber. I watched a few KZbin videos, and immediately put a tire pressure gauge on her tank. It read 0psi (She doesn't have a gauge anywhere on her system to determine the pressure within.) I connected my air compressor to it and injected up to 25psi of air into the tank. I don't want to put anymore than that though, at least until I can fully understand how the entire system works. I don't want to have to end up replacing shit because I damaged something. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
