Freddy’s backstory is just as dark and demented as the reveal that whenever he claims a new victim their souls stay trapped inside him making him stronger. The fact that they killed off two established characters in this movie was crazy and unexpected rip to Nancy’s dad and Nancy herself. The next two movies continue to focus on the dream aspects of this franchise with some cool set pieces/dream sequences and delivering on some awesome kills.

They should have explained how Freddy kept those souls captive. Good souls are supposed to go to heaven, bad souls to hell, all by God's decision. Did God delegate power to Freddy to keep some souls?

Part 4 The Dream Master is a fun funhouse style BLAST, don’t let anyone tell ya different! The practical effects are gnarly. However the character of Kristen is played by another actress, and it was filmed during a Writer’s Strike. With that said, it’s a blast and introduces one of my favorite heroines from this franchise. Def one of my favorite sequels!

Horror movies are meant to scare and disturb, not to laugh. If I want to laugh I watch a comedy movie. Starting with the fourth movie, Nightmare on Elm Street began to lose all meaning, Freddy became ridiculous, like that drunk guy who wants to be funny, but makes a fool of himself at parties. It even stops being a horror film and becomes more of a fantasy.

If you want to see how nancy escape freddy I suggest you watch a short film called don't fall asleep and then you can see what happened between the first film and the third hope you enjoy if you have the time :)

I worked on a film with Patricia Arquette 'Secret Agent', with Bob Hopkins and Robin Williams... The film was sh*t! But I can happily say they were all really nice and a good reason to ignore "never meet your heroes"... Sometimes they do live up to expectations.🥰

Pour one out for *****…one of the all-time saddest horror movie deaths! It still gets me emotional after all these years. There may or may not be a “reunion” down the line (keeping it as vague as possible), but it’s not going to be what you expect! So glad you loved this one though…it definitely is the high point of the series. They course-corrected from the 2nd and played more within the rules established by Wes Craven in Part 1, all while expanding on the mythology themselves. I know I said I’d keep my favorites to myself until you post your reactions, but I can’t wait for you to experience Part 4! Hopefully you’ll enjoy it as much as I do!

As I’m sure everyone has pointed out, 3 is a fan favorite and for good reason. We get to see the return of Nancy and we have a crap ton of characters that we love just as much as besides the one female doctor. She was straight up very annoying. I liked the concept of having special abilities while in the dream world. Such as having magic, superhuman strength or the ability to pull anyone into your dreams. This one also surprisingly has some rather deep messages about drug addiction as well. The actress who played Taryn, spoke about how she always gotten fan mails from people who said that they ended up quitting doing drugs because of her character, which I think is a rather profound and powerful message to be remembered that way. It still sucks to this day that they killed off Nancy the way they did but it shows that anyone can die in movies like this and all bets are off. Also… the twist of the nun being revealed to be Freddy’s mother is still freaking wild and shocking to this day too!

8:50 - But the house had a _blue_ door when Nancy lived in it, not a _red_ door. 6:55 - In the part of this discussion cut from this video, when Neil tells Nancy about the patient that cut off his own eyelids to keep from sleeping, it was a long-held fan-theory that he was talking about Jesse from part 2. 11:07 - It's been an unconfirmed fan theory for over 40 years that her father was Sargent Parker, played by Joseph Whipp, in the 1st Elm Street film. 19:10 - In this scene, Nancy states "6 years ago, he killed my friends. He almost killed me." Placing this movie as taking place 1 year after part 2(which was stated as taking place 5 years after part 1), and placing the first film as taking place in 1981(part 5 flat-out states what year it is taking place in, so it's easy to figure out when 4 and then 3 take place using it as a direct reference). 20:30 - I see what you're trying to do here😄 I've tried it too... *_many_* times😉 Unfortunately, it has _never_ worked for me🤷‍♂️ 34:11 - Freddy was murdered by the Springwood mob roughly 10 years before the first film, so these remains would've been sitting in that trunk for about 16 years.

If they ever do another film, they have to bring Nancy back. Easy explanation is when Nancy died she was forever trapped in the dreamworld. Also, while they never go into it, Nancy does use a power in the first film, dream walking. She walks between her dream and Rod's to see Freddy enter his jail cell.

2 (Freddie's Revenge) had some good ideas but had a lot of misguided undertones, Dream Master and Dream Child (4, 5) are good fun with some of the most inventive kills but by that time Freddie was more of a pop culture figure and watered down with stupid one liners and Freddies Dead/Final Nightmare (depending on where you live) was just a gimmick... new Nightmare is good and very meta, even before meta was a thing with a name... It's no coincidence that the 3 best films (in my opinion) in the franchise (1,3, New Nightmare) were the only ones written and directed by Wes Craven. Wouldn't usually tell any one not to watch something but Freddie's Nightmares is a waste of time, just a bunch of badly made short horror anthologies introduced by Freddie. Hope you do the rest, I'll be back to watch👍

I’m half tempted to suggest skipping the next 3. 4 is okay, some likable characters. 5 and 6 are both atrociously bad with nothing redeeming about them. The 7th one called “A New Nightmare” is actually one of the best.
