Great reaction, Aliens is in my top five greatest movies of all time. BUT, You can stop here. Most fans are of the opinion that Alien 3 and Alien Resurrections are Ripley's fevered hypersleep dreams. Prometheus, Covenant, Romulus are all prequels.

Saw this in the theater back in the day. I knew you would be so hype watching this movie. It's SO good. They really really don't make movies like this anymore. I am so glad I grew up with this stuff and movie nights with my dad. I miss those days!! Thank you for making this nostalgia so much fun, Cole!!

And for whatever my opinion is to you, I'd skip Alien3. Even I have only watched bits and pieces. Just read what happens :)

"Class 2! Class 2!" Gotta say, that's the 1st time I've heard anyone ever use Ripley's cargo dock rating to trash talk the queen, pretty great haha. And this is one of the absolute best reactions to my fave movie (and I've watched just about every reaction to it), instasubbed!

Recently saw a photo on Reddit of a little girl dressed up as Ripley with a toy rifle at a convention, where she went up to the actor who plays Hicks and asked if he’d show her (in character) how to work the rifle - just like Hicks does in this movie. He did and the pictures are so precious and sweet. Highly recommend looking them up.

Consider watching the shorter theatrical version of Aliens before the director's cut. I'm usually outvoted on this issue but hear me out: there is better pacing & suspense in the theatrical version that you cannot experience if you watch the longer one first. And the movie is so good you will want to watch the director's cut at some point afterwards in order to get the additional context it provides Edited to add: gah. I'm too late

I’ve watched this movie so many times and seen numerous reactions. It’s my all time favourite movie, but some of your comments were so fucking funny, I laughed out loud. And original too… love your reactions. Given how much you enjoyed these characters, I wouldn’t suggest watching the third. I like 3 & 4 but they’re not on par with 1 & 2

I donwish there had been more action-oriented films with Sigourney Weaver. Her appeal here proves how believable she is in that role.

Ripley is like the reluctant hero, and thats the most relatable. Shes fine living in the crowd, but when those who should stand, don't, she rises to the challenge.

Now you see why the Director's cut is better. The whole Ripley's daughter thing was cut in the theatrical version.

This ship would be much faster than a cargo tug. I don't remember the number, but in the background after the soldiers wake up, you can hear one say the number of weeks they'd been asleep. Seven-ish? Something like that, but definitely not 10 months.

There are so many callbacks to this movie over the past 49 years. Even Sigourney Weaver has a line in Galaxy Quest about the air shafts. And when she yells, "Parker!" in Avatar, I had a sec where I forgot which movie I was watching.

You don't have a big crew on a tug boat. That's essentially what they are. There's also a resource issue. Air, being the big one, but also heat and water, energy for cryo-chambers. Granted, they have a reactor for power, but it's probably nearly maxed out handling the cargo.

This was such a great reaction Cole! Make sure to watch Prometheus and Covenant, and also don't forget to play Alien Isolation which is an absolute masterpiece! It's set 15 years after the first movie, you play as Amanda Ripley in search of what happened to her mother.

Space long haul truckers. We saw this when it first came out. People were getting physically sick and throwing up. My knees were weak and I had to lean on my husband to leave the theater. Same thing happened in The Exorcist. No one had ever seen anything like these movies before.

The real hero of this movie is James Cameron, whose ability to do so much with so little has been kind of forgotten since he was given the golden key to massive movie budgets. Aliens was filmed on a budget of around $18M, which was a modest budget even in 1986. He had no more than six xenomorph costumes to work with, and yet, through camera angles and creative editing managed to make it seem like there were hordes of the creatures at every turn. Cameron also designed the Queen, channeling his inner H.R. Giger (who was tied up in production on Poltergeist at the time of filming). Giger was duly impressed with cameron’s design.

Well hate to break it to you but FOX ruined the franchise after Aliens... with the arguable exception of the first AVP Alien vs Predator outing. The other movies take the audience as idiots... and Romulus, despite having a good art direction and production value was no different... they ruined the story, the lore... and takes the audience as idiots... I could have written a better screen play... oh and I have!

The power-loader ending is so good because the way James Cameron set it up was masterful. As moviegoers, we've all been trained to subconsciously expect certain things. Namely the whole "Chekov's Gun" principle, in that if something is setup earlier in the movie, we subconsciously expect a payoff for that setup later in the movie. However Cameron tricks us into forgetting about the power-loader setup scene, by using that same scene as a payoff for an even earlier setup (Ripley talking with Burke, back in her quarters on the station, about how she's been running loaders down at the docks.) Thus the first appearance of the power-loader doesn't stick in our brains the way a normal setup scene would; we don't subconsciously view it as a dangling-thread. And then when the power-loader does show up again at the end of the movie, we're completely surprised, but with no sense of immersion breaking that would come if it was a solution that never had a setup. Instead our brains instantly recontextualize the first power-loader scene as a setup, and not just a payoff, and then it's all, "Holy shit. That's the perfect solution, and it was sitting in front of us the whole time, and we just forget about it."

The fact that you wondered if the movie could "...make the xenomorph scary." proves that it will never have the same effect it did in 1979. Everyone has consumed it to some degree through pop culture before watching this film, which is a shame.

53:30 FUN FACT: When the computer says "You now have 14 minutes to reach minimum safe distance", that is EXACTLY how much time passes until the explosion! You can't edit a film any better than that!
