The fact is: in the japanese edition of the game her sisters refers to her using male pronouns, but as a form of insult, out of envy and hate, cuz she's cuter than them. For a japanese woman being refered as a male is a huge insult. Nintendo Of America wasn't aware of that cultural thing and made a mess.

Honestly, I've never played the original Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door back in the Gamecube days, but all I can say about Nintendo adjusting the game for being ported over to the Nintendo Switch console is that yes, they intended it to be kid-friendly and suitable for them, but it can also appeal to adult fans, hence of course the controversies about the "dark" stuff like those sort of content that is only in the Japanese version and whatnot. Look, I kinda get it on why Nintendo usually censors controversial content when something is not right in certain games by modern standards, but it is what it is. Additional fact to note here, it is JUST a fictional character (even though I wish they were real) and that's it, which also applies to my drawings of my own original fan-made Mario characters that I made for myself and I won't let anyone dictate what I can draw, because I possess unrestrained imagination and splendid talent. Again, I simply don't know what to think of it, but if I am in the mood for it, I will probably get that Paper Mario game on my Switch that was a classic Gamecube original. 👍👍👍

I've never gotten to the original Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door as I've only seen gameplay of it from KZbin videos. But I love how with modern Nintendo remakes they're staying true to what the original games had in them. I feel like it's evident Super Mario RPG's remake as Nintendo shows how much they were trying to stay to true to the original game while only changing a couple of things. I like how Nintendo shows this as well for the remake of Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. Even though the game has a dark story that has an aim towards an older audience it still shows how it's geared towards kids too.

I'm abit older than 30, and I too don't feel any "attraction" for Flurrie's design. But the fact they kept that in the game's remake, and the fact the noose in the center of Rogueport is still there, gives me hope that not too much stuff will be censored in the remake. I'll still buy the game regardless of changes because TTYD is my favorite Mario RPG game, but it's nice to see Nintendo aren't being as much cowards for their games as they used to.

The Paper Mario games is games I don't play myself but lots of times I watch Derrick Bitnerd streamed playthrough playlists of 64, TTYD, CS ever since he streamed them years ago before he left GameXplain and put them on his YT channel Bitnerd Games I also watch Andre Segers of GameXplain streamed playthrough playlist of SS when he was doing it to help people in need. If Andre does a streamed playthrough playlist of TTYD remake I'll stop watching Derricks TTYD playlist and start watching TTYD remake lots of times.
