I think it's more because it's not a government job... with all of the safety net that implies. Also, I suspect it actually has fairly long work hours, between watching the movie, possibly several times, then writing a review to critique it... 3rd... I suspect it turns women (most? of them?) off because it's basically socially isolated, even in a crowd... You're not supposed to talk or use cell phones etc. 4th... movie genres... can you be a *successful* movie reviewer, and ONLY review rom-coms?
