And don't ever feel stupid Grace! Thousands in history that have sailed these seasons have made one kind of mistake or another. And now thousands more will And it ALWAYS will be a sailor brother or sisters responsibility to help another...no matter how big or small the help might be. It could have and may be you on the other end of the tow one day. That's why "You are your brothers keeper." And I love a good adventure over a dull sail any day! ;) ⛵

I'm digging Grace! She's so laid back and chill and funny too! I just really like her vibes. I loved the scene of the little 🦞 boat that came quietly chugging by...lol..the early morning fog and all the beautiful scenery in Maine is a cinematographers dream. The fog hiding all the little islands as they slowly begin to peak out and tons of lobster pots scattered about and then the rocky edges. All of it is just dreamy like. Makes you wonder what heaven must look like when you see beauty like this. This here will make you want to stand still and enjoy the wondrous works of God. Fair winds Bill and Grace

Ayuh! Those may look like lobster pot buoys, but they are actually sailboat traps. That's how we get our sailboats here in Downeast Maine! Sometimes we just "catch and release" (just for sport). Sometimes we keep 'em! 😂🤣

A couple of months ago I joking suggested you lasso a cleat on Delos and lighten your workload on Calico Skies.Now we know it works! Time to sharpen up your rodeo skills! I liked Grace's comment about not being able see Delos but she could hear the Nugget. Finally, a way for the Nugget to earn her passage, she can be the Delos foghorn!

dodging lobster pots, always an adventure. and then figuring out if it is a lobster pot ahead or a seagull, its fun to see your perspective of this journey! and your video's are getting better! just watch some of these "other" you tubers early video's. 😉. its fun to see the progression!

Fun game! lol, it was a sigh of relief when we escape the Maine waters and there were no pots around. It's hard to watch the early videos sometimes, we've learned so much as we've gone on :)

My career was as an engineer for the US Navy. We had a term for that dipstick problem. It was not designed "sailor proof". It should not be near rotational parts.

Great episode Grace, each one is improving your presentation, and adventure. One comment, you might try lowering the music as your voice gets drowned out. Glad you guys stopped at mistake island, I had mentioned it to Brian in one of Delos earlier releases, A great place to visit, you did a great job videoing both on the ground and from the drone. It also is a good place to anchor with good protection. One advice for the future if you returned Maine, The pick up buoy for the lobster trap is always down current from the toggle which is the second buoy from the pick up buoy never go between them. 😱😊

I sail in Nova Scotia and Lobster pots are the same. Every year you want to see a happy sailor?... wait for the end of fishing season. Real pain sometimes.
@DowneastThunderCreations3 жыл бұрын
This is in my "neck of the woods" and this is a normal situation. The concentration of lobster pots can actually be much greater in certain areas. Downeast Maine (aka "The Bold Coast") which encompasses the shoreline of Washington County is well known as a mulithull sailor's "nightmare!" That's why you won't see many (or any) cats or tri's sailing these waters. 😂🤣😂🤣

@kalkudah3 жыл бұрын
Looks like a shellfish farm. It could be commercial or for research. Oysters, mussels, and scallops are farmed on the Maine coast. Just over the island, to the southwest, is the Downeast Institute, downeastibstitute.org which is involved with shellfish aquaculture research.
@CalicoSkiesSailing3 жыл бұрын

@@sailingavocet - watch the video. The woman says "knots an hour" which is a measure of acceleration and meaningless in context. People who can't get units right don't understand what they are talking about. That's before we even explore poor towing rigs. It's just another "look at me" video from people who really have little to offer.
