Claudia Schiffer is beautiful, she might not have a great catwalk like Karen, Yasmeen, and Naomi, but her beauty and charisma is what made her stand out in the runway, she also has a curvaceous and healthy body like Cindy Crawford, she wasn’t anorexic thin like some other models in that era.

She has the most commercial look. Blonde, blue eyed and buxom with super star charisma that came across on the covers. Her work ethic can't be underestimated either, she is German and they are known to be efficient, professional and always early or on time to do their job.

Yes, and she wasn't a party girl at all. She was one of the few models who didn't smoke, nor do recreational drugs, and she wasn't tied with dating scandals (she was only with David Copperfield for most of the 90s). She mentioned in her latest Vogue video, where she gave a tour of her home, that she would stay up working with Karl Lagerfeld all night till 3 AM, while others would already go home, and both he and Claudia weren't drinkers. Karl complimented her how Teutonic (Germanic) she was. She also had a very keen sense of who she was, never giving into money or fame, as an Arab prince once offered her $1 million to have dinner with him, and you can assume what else he wanted afterward.

It was the original five supermodels: Linda Evangelista, Cindy Crawford, Tatjana Patitz, Christy Turlington, and Naomi Campbell, and then Claudia Schiffer was added. Tatjana was sort of some times replaced with Claudia, and Kate Moss was added into the Big Six, because Tatjana herself was also very private and purposely slowed her career down in the mid 90s.

Absolutely! And the photographer who did the Guess campaign is Ellen von Unwerth, who is among the best in the fashion industry. No shade, but without makeup, it is said that you would not look at her twice and she’s NOT for the runway ( can’t walk ) . But photos of her are so stunning that you can’t take your eyes off her.

IMHO, I wanna say something about the 2004 Chanel No. 5 commercial which starred Nicole Kidman and Rodrigo Santoro (who's actually also in Love Actually like Claudia). The real reason Nicole was casted in that commercial is Karl Lagerfield (the Chanel creative director at that time) reminds her of Claudia 😅 (Nicole is somewhat like Claudia but with large eyes like when she's blonde)

But I would like to know about those other models that were behind the super ones, the ones that even if they had a name, they are not so well remembered: Helena, Tajtana, Nadja, Kristen...although they are top and are recognized many times they don't enter in lists or they are forgotten. Though, the 90s models draw enormous (!) interest to fashion and generated big money. But again: The models are NOT fashion icons in the correct sense. That is a labeling for ppl who dont think about what they say but I of course understand what they mean. But some of the 90s models are what they are: Model icons. Icons fashion icons themselves put clothes on and photographer icons (like Elgort, Ritts, etc) photographed and gained (often much) more interest.

Heidi was never considered to be a real fashion model, to be honest. She never walked Chanel, Gucci or Dior. She was a very succesful commercial model in the U.S. over a long time ("Sport's Illustrated") and did "Victoria's Secret" for many years. She herself considered her body as "too big" to walk Milan or Paris.
