Try a newer driver you might be surprised. The Fusion is older tech and a newer Max head driver will give you more distance and better dispersion than your Fusion. At 77 you definitely SHOULD be looking at newer tech to help you out. Videos like this can be very misleading.

I have PXG drivers (Proto 9 & 10.5), Cobra and Callaway drivers. I can infinitely adjust the PXG and the others are fun to hit. At this point it's all about shaft for me and if I can't add at least 12 yards and tighter dispersion, I would not even bother upgrading. I would focus more on optimizing wedges, hybrids and irons and putter in my bag before I will revisit the driver category. They are fun to collect though as they all feel and sound different.

The last driver that I bought, will be my last driver purchase for awhile. Cobra F8. I thought with the low price compared to other manufactures, we were finally going to see a slight reduction in driver prices. Boy was I wrong. In the few years after that, the prices skyrocketed. It still baffles me why drivers are so expensive. The COI can't improve. Aerodynamics aren't going to improve much because they've already tested in wind tunnels. The cost of carbon fiber has gone down in the past 10 years. They've already been using Tungsten weighting. Drivers have been adjustable for years. The only thing that can improve on a driver is dispersion and distance on miss hits. One could argue that speed could go up, but it would be such a minimal amount that you wouldn't notice it, We are to the point where we are repeating things and acting like it's new technology. Carbon faces, mini drivers for better shot dispersion, etc.

After watching this, it looks like i need to record myself swinging. I always thought my nasty hooks with the driver were due to gripping the club to hard with my right hand, or playing it too far in front of my stance. I used to slice back in the day and had someone work on my swing to more of an in out swing. Over the years I have probably slowly moved to more of a twisting motion. Lately I've been trying to loosen my right hand, but many times I loosen too much and leak it right and lose a lot of distance. With clubs being on the shelf used, you can look at it multiple ways. Another way of looking at it is the club that is on the shelf the most, was bought more. Maybe those that bought it are trying to sell before the price plummets too much before they buy the next model.

New to the channel. Love your common sense approach. I currently own 42 playable drivers. Not because of lunacy, but because of curiosity. Some are “wall hangers “, some are “back-ups”, and some just toys because they’re fun to hit. In my early golf years, drivers were my nemesis. If I could have afforded a new driver when the next “greatest and best ever” was introduced, I probably would have purchased them. Since then, I’ve learned that swing mechanics and the proper shaft can make all the difference in the world.

Just about any driver since 2000 or so is ok by me. I was a 5 hc in 2000 and today at 71 I’m a 7. Drivers have never ever made much of a difference in my scores. Gave up my big boy musclebacks five years ago; still favor my Titleist TSi 3 now with a Diamana 40g S shaft and can’t believe how easy it is to hit my old Ping Rapture V2J. Sure my drives dwindled from 260+ carry 30 years ago to 230 on a good day today but my scores haven’t changed much. It’s in the putting... greens reading actually. For older guys, don’t waste money on drivers. Get your eyes or correctional equipment taken care of first. PenguinGolf 8/11/24

Went from a ping g410 to a TM Qi10 LST (I had store credits to use up), and absolutely love my decision. No joke, I'm averaging 15-20 yards more on the drive with tighter overall dispersion. I will also say, I see a lot of people complain about three are new drivers/clubs every year even though changes are small. I don't hear people complain are cars that are released every year, even they're doing the exact same as gold manufacturers. You don't buy a new car every year, I think people should realize you don't need to buy a new driver every year.

If they're your student, I hope you stress that the lessons are more impactful than new equipment. That said, I wanted to try the TM or Callaway Mini drivers because I've always struggled with driver, but since they are limited release, if I wanted one, I would have had to buy it sight unseen. I chose not to, but can see how many people bought one only to find it didn't cure their ills. Humorously, I got a swing evaluation by a fitter and my swing was a few degrees up, a few inside out, and had decent speed, but consistently 5-6 degrees open. To his credit, the guy didn't try to sell me a driver; he told me to get lessons to learn to control the face and I might not need a new club.

I'm guilty as charged.... Got fitted for a Cobra Dark Speed X which I loved the extra distance I got from it (went from 230 carry to 250), however I lost accuracy no matter what loft setting or weight change I tried. I ended up selling the Dark Speed X so I could buy back an Aerojet Max with a higher loft and a shortened light shaft. I now average hitting the fairway 65-75% of the time with my misses still ending up on the first cut and rarely in the thick stuff. With some speed training I now carry 245+ on average and usually straight! I lost 5 yards compared to the dark speed x, but at least I'm not slicing or hooking all over the place. Keeping my ball away from trouble even with a loss of 5-10 yards has helped me lower my score tremendously.

Woah, most golf content creators claim that club fitting is required for new clubs to work for the player buying them. But you are now saying that these fitted clubs are in fact not helping any more than a non fitted club. So fittings are basically a waste of money. As most already knew. "Oh that shaft really fits your swing...in this sim bay." "You should definitely pay the upcharge for this shaft over the garbage stock shaft." My driver is a Halo 2 9 degree with a Hzrdus Blue stiff. No fitting done, just picked based on swing speed for shaft and reviews. Works with my swing speed and works with me missing the absolute center of the face most of the time. My miss is still a nasty slice, but my better hits are so much straighter and less fadey than my Warrior 7.5 degree from 2008. As you stated though, I am working on that swing and I am having less over the top swings getting things much more pull left misses.

There really great drivers that are 2 to 3 years old from a technology standpoint that are half the price of these new drivers and perform just as well. so, a higher handicap golfer can't benefit from a new driver? I'm not sure where this comes from. a 13 handicap would benefit from a new driver just as much as a 2 handicap. A new driver isn't going to do much of anything over a couple year old driver. The gains for any player will be minimal. The big difference though, is that many times, the high handicap golfer will keep their clubs longer before replacing, so there is going to be a bigger difference from their old driver to a new one. Also, one of the bigger improvements they've made with newer drivers is distance and dispersion on off center hits.

Dont matter what driver, if ur swing path is busted ur not guna hit fairways let alone gain any distance, went thru the same with baseball as a kid, always needed the new bat every year, never got more hits, that came with more work at a hitting instructor, id say screw the $699 spemd that on lessons and fix that swing

Love my Q10, more fairways hit and a least 15 yards further!

As long as you don’t fix your swing and take lessons to correct it, it does not matter what equipment you get, you will NEVER get consistent in your ball striking.

I think the simple reason is they produce way too many drivers…they think everyone has an extra $650 to toss away on a new driver every year.

I just bagged an epic sub zero off eBay for real cheap from Japan and it was in unbelievably pristine condition. I was thinking the same thing, it has the AI flash face, why would I pay top dollar for basically the same thing in 2024?!

The golf stores are telling me that Taylormade drivers are the most warrantee claimed clubs. Broken stealth, gets you a new Q10.
@WilliamWright-hf8ob
@WilliamWright-hf8ob Ай бұрын
This is absolutely true as I work in a New and Used golfclub store but I have seen all brands come in for warranty issues and Taylor Made leads the way on the other hand Taylor made out sells every driver in our store and if you add all the other drivers together( Ping Callaway Cobra Wilson Tour Edge and Titleist ) they still blow them away in sales numbers easily so it makes sense we see way more warranty issues with Taylor and almost all issues are from higher swing speed players, its mostly the face issues with the Stealth separating and the Stealth 2 plus the carbon top separates and if this happens you get a new Qi10, I have not had any Qi10's come in yet but sooner or later all these multi compound drivers will have issues , if your a high handicapper that hits all over the face stick to a all Titanium driver like a Ping G425 or 430.

It's amazing people still think the marketing nonsense will solve a massive slice FFS 😂😂 and then gain 8 yards from toe shots ...please everyone stop it ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha there is no miracle golf club anywhere ...also people see 5 yards on a fit and think that's huge it's not !!!! Please walk this out on a course fairway 5 yards is nothing it's not even an extra club into green ...why why why do we fall for this I used to and stopped it a long time ago 👌👌

I’m really sorry but if ur going to spend £550 on a driver why would u go for a stock shaft. U save up and spend £300 on a aftermarket shaft so that it shaft is fitted for u. If u get a shaft u can keep it for years and just buy a new head every 2 yrs.

There’s nothing wrong with those drivers or the ones people already have. They were owned by ppl who can’t hit a golf ball and they blamed it on the club. They’re likely fat and out of shape, they don’t practice enough or take lessons and they just buy drivers.
