This was such an amazing interview. She’s phenomenal. I hope my loved one transitions into PHP after inpatient discharge. I’m so tired of doing the policing of my spouse. 14 long years.. it’s created so much resentment and discouragement. I don’t want to be bothered anymore.

I was on methadone for 10 years. Saved my life. Often people are prescribed too high of a dose

I’m struggling with a partner who I knew wasn’t addict when I first met him, but I didn’t realize how much of a problem it could be until we were together for almost 6 years. I’m afraid he might be getting to a point where I have to kick him out again. Really hard on us financially when this happens, and it’s really hard on our daughter to be away from her father for so long. I’m so glad that there’s content like this that I can listen to and hopefully he will also listen to.

Thank you for explaining the chain of events and things to watch for. I wish family and support systems were at least clued in by therapist. I know my alcoholic sons therapist is "his" but sharing key components, like what you've done here is helpful. Our own Recovery Support Handbook would be So Helpful.

But not everyone has to detox from opioids 😁... Methadone out patient is a form of treatment and very successful for many!

Methadone is awful for people in recovery. Nodding out on methadone every night is not recovery.

@@ellebrew719 my daughter didn't nod off. This is your opinion...while you are allowed an opinion, please do not condemn others. It's scientifically proven.

@@Kyriecat12 methadone is an actual drug/pain killer. It is synthetic morphine. It was literally created by the Nazis because they didn't have access to morphine. Giving this to a drug addict only prolongs their addiction because it's a substance of abuse.

@@Kyriecat12 there is a reason why rehabs across the nation are dropping methadone for Subutex, they have been for the last ten years. Methadone is so bad. And coming off of methadone is 10x worse than coming off of heroin or fentanyl or Subutex. A person quiting cold turkey off methadone will probably not sleep for 30 days and will have long drawn out withdrawals from. A person quitting heroin cold turkey will go through it for like two weeks and then start to feel better. Getting on methadone is like investing into your addiction instead of recovery.

@@Kyriecat12 Tell me, why is it easy to get a prescription for Suboxone but impossible to get a prescription for methadone? Why is methadone controlled so highly that you need to go to a facility and get dosed there? Because of how dangerous it is.
