I also have a theory for dbd.. If you look on the very first trailer on this game, it says it have drug use. So theory is... All of the survivors walk in the woods, gey kidnapped and put on drugs and put them in scenes like forests, and bc of the drug, it makes them see killers and makes them think they are feeling pain... ;3 just a thought.
